New Year's Eve at the Resorts

I was wondering if they do anything special at the resorts on New Year's Eve? We'll be staying at Old Key West and arriving at about 4pm that day. We don't want to go to a park (probably couldn't get in at that point, anyway!) and Downtown Disney would probably be too crazy. I'm just looking for something low-key and fun to do early on in the evening. Kids are 8 and 6 so definitely would not make it until midnight. Do they do anything at the resorts? Thanks!

I stayed at OKW for New Year's Eve in 2010 and had a ball. I didn't do any activities at OKW because I was at MK, so I can't tell you what they do. Depending on where you stay in the resort, you can see the fireworks from HS. My room backed to the road and I saw them perfectly from my balcony because I never made it to midnight in the parks.

I can't promise anything special because I've never been there on NYE, but OKW is one of my favorite places in the world and I can think of nothing better than ringing in the New Year at the Gurgling Suitcase... drink in hand!

We did NYE at OKW and they set up a JUMBO Tron Screen and they have the show of the firework from Magic Kingdom. They give out hats and horns, there's a bar and you can reserve a picnic table in the area for you and your family. It was a lot of fun!! Beats the crowds in the parks! BECAUSE the parks are insanely PACKED!!!

So cool. Do you remember if they only showed the midnight fireworks or if they were playing anything earlier? What time did the festivities start? We will probably only last until 10:00 or so since it will be a travel day and we'll want to go to a park the next day. Thanks!
