We're celebrating New Year's Eve at the Fort with our daughters and their friends, 10, 12, 12, 15, 15. Does anything special go on at the Fort? We won't be going to the parks that day but would like to do something special for an early dinner and then catch the fireworks on the beach or at another resort. Any suggestions?

I am interested in this as well. I have not made a reservation yet but I have thought about it for awhile going to FW for New Years and enjoying the Beach and the fireworks instead of the :happytv: .

I'm locked in for New Years I have never stayed during this holiday so Im not sure what goes on but I know it will be fun. As for reservations you beter do it soon even if there is any spots available

We have been there several times on New years eve. We are usually low keyed that evening. There are a variety of special things at the parks but we prefer just hanging around the campground. We have gone out for dinner (Whispering canyon last time) and then come back and played cards and goofed around. About 10 we went down to the beach which was already crowded. Make sure you bring your own chairs and some supplies if you go. All in all its pretty relaxing just hanging out.

Thanks for the info sounds just like what we want to do!!!!!

The beach at the Fort is a great place for the fireworks. Thanks for the heads up to bring our own chairs and to get there extra early. We'll be bringing a few blankets to stay warm if there is a wind on the lake.

Will need to check out some restaurants that might have a view of the parks also for a late dinner. I was thinking of visiting the Boardwalk area or going to Ohana as we've not been to those places. We did like Whispering Canyon, especially the extra helpings of ketchup!

Any other experiences to share???

Even right now dinner ressies are going to be tought to come by, the year we ate at WCC we called and were told that everything was booked, we took the boat over to Wilderness lodge just for grins and walked up and were seated within 5 minutes. Sometimes its better to be lucky.
The beauty of Fort Wilderness is that you can do a lot or nothing at all depending on your mood.
