New Years Eve at Magic Kingdom

My family is coming to Florida from out of state in December and is planning to spend the day in Magic Kingdom on New Years Eve (crazy I know ). Our hometown has it's band playing there on New Years Eve and that's why that day is picked. I noticed that there are extra magic hours that day from 7am to 8am and since we aren't staying on site, we don't get to use them . When does everyone suggest we get TO THE FRONT GATES in order to still have a chance at getting in. Any ideas and thoughts/tips are appreciated I know this is a very busy day and a few years ago I remember them closing for capacity!!

I don't recall any day except christmas where there was a period of time (not all day) you couldn't get in.

To enjoy the place, get in as early as you can for what time you plan to leave. as the day gets later and later, it'll get more and more crowded for those that needed to sleep in to make it until midnight fireworks. there is also a smaller fireworks show earlier in the evening so many families will probably leave just after that but that doesn't mean it won't be the largest crowd you've ever experienced after it as more replace them.

Parking is another story, earlier the better to ensure you don't have to park elsewhere on property and take transportation to mk.

Last New Years eve we entered Magic Kingdom at 9:00 pm without much issue; though we took a bus from a resort. I agree with the above poster about parking; it will be gnarly and even worse when leaving. We leave after midnight and typically return to the hotel between 2:00 and 3:00 am. This year we are going to stay in the park an hour or so after midnight to discover if we still arrive at the resort the same time as if we had waited in lines.
