Our next DVC vacation isn't until New Years Eve. I want to make our PS for that meal ASAP, so I want to have a couple of choices available when I call 90 days out.

My question is....If we want to be at the Rose and Crown for the fireworks, what time would be best for our PS? I was thinking 10 PM would work. THe last time we were there, it was no problem taking 2 hours to eat! ;)

Good luck with that one....its kind of like saying "I would love to go to the super bowl.....how about 50 yard line seats!!!".....just kidding :cool1: ....I wish you luck...let us know how it turns out....I would shoot for 9pm and have a second dinner like in lord of the rings!!!

dianeschlicht,
They have two fireworks programs on NYE at EPCOT. The first is around 7:30pm and the second is at midnight. So, your two options could be for the same restaurant for the earlier fireworks show or the later one. :)

In the past, they have required a CC guarantee for NYE (and there is a $10.00 no show fee if you don't make your reservation...)

I know about the guarantee. We have done NYE dinner at Epcot before, but I am trying to figure out what time would be best for Rose and Crown to be there for the Midnight fireworks. Last December, we were able to stretch our 7 PM dinner to last through the 9 PM show.

The first fireworks show is Illuminations only. The midnight show is Illuminations, followed by the NYE fireworks. Actually, I believe Illuminations starts at 11:45, and the NYE fireworks starts at midnight.

Planning ahead, are we? I guess you've got 6 months to figure it out. But here's what I would do.

I would call first thing in the AM on the first day of the 90 day window. I would ask for a priority seating for anytime after 9:30 PM. If you get it, great! Then I would stop by Rose & Crown early in the evening and tell them what your plans are and ask how early they would recommend you arrive for your designated PS time to wait for an available table with a view. This place will be a zoo all night long, so you may need to plan to arrive an hour or more before your PS time. When they release the schedule for the earlier Illuminations, you can judge by when the earlier show ends about when you might need to get to Rose & Crown. Tables will clear out somewhat after the first show and then quickly fill up for the rest of the evening. You can expect that anyone that books R&C after the first Illuminations is probably planning on staying for the midnight show.

If you've been there before, you know that only so many tables have a view. They are coveted spots and people will draw their meals out for hours to be able to stay in their spot.

Have you been to Epcot for NYE, it's a mad house, a lot of fun, but an absolute mad house. I don't remember the first viewing of Illuminations being so early like a previous poster mentioned. When we were there last, the first show was at the regular time, 9:00 PM, and then the expanded NYE show began about 11:45. Good luck!

So do you think my plan is sound, John?

Yes, we were there for NYE 1999/2000 THAT one was a real zoo!!! We had early dinner reservations that night at Germany, and made the mistake of being there at 6 PM and they were celebrating the NY since it was 6 hours different! I see your point about timing the arrival for the seating! I too remember the first Illuminations being at the regular time of 9:00. I guess your idea of 9:30 sounds best. That should give us the best chance of a dock side table!
