New Years Eve & 1st wk of Jan or 2nd wk of Dec? Swan or Dolphin?

Hi - My DH and I always go to Disney the first or 2nd week of Dec. This year after Christmas was over, I said I wish that we still had our annual Disney visit to look forward to rather than having to head back to work on 01/02. So, this year we are considering arriving on 12/30 or 12/31 and then staying until 01/08 instead of going before Christmas. For those of you who spent New Years eve and then the following week at Disney - are the crowds low after 01/01? Is the weather usually decent? Will all of the decorations be taken down on 01/01? Also... we are probably going to stay at the Swan or Dolphin. We stayed at the Swan in 12/03. My DH and I are both 50 and it will be just the two of us. Any couples who prefer the Dolphin over the Swan or vice versa and prefer the Swan over the Dolphin? And if so, why? Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

I think the crowds clear out after 1/1. We were there in January many years ago, it was empty. I loved the Dolphin, never stayed at the Swan. It was nice having the 24 hour restaurant downstairs. Can't give you any Swan advice. Have fun planning your trip.

We were just at the Swan from 12/28-1/02/04. We loved the resort (1st time because we are dvc members , but got a great teacher's rate for Club Level. Really wonderful. Crowds at parks were worse than last year at the same time..MK was crazy, but after 1/1 it is much calmer. Dolphin was beautifully decorated, but it seems so much bigger than Swan. We like the initmacy of the Swan and all the staff were wonderful.
