My parents are thinking about going to WDW for New Years this year. We're thinking about going also... Can you share your experiences with crowds? As bad as the summer? And how is the weather (on average)? I really would like to be there for NYE, but if it's going to be crazy it might not be worth it since we won't be able to stay a full week... but then again my DH and I are going this March...???

I was just down in WDW for New Year's Eve. It was my first time. I have only been in the summer. I think I prepared myself for worse crowds than there actually were are the park. I went to Epcot. Now it was crowded, but I went in with the impression that I would have no 'breathing' room! But fortunately that was not the case. The lines were long for rides, but I did not go with the intention of getting on a lot of rides since I have been there often. At times there were 'bottlenecks,' but that was mostly due to people standing around watching some kind of performance or waiting in line for party hats. In the evening there were plenty of bands and djs dispersed throughout the park to spread the crowds out. It was probably the best New Year's I have ever had. The weather was a little cooler than I had hoped for, but it was still nice. It was about 75 in the day and 65 at night. On New Year's Day I went to Disney Quest, and that was not too crowded. In the evening I went to Downtown Disney, and that was fairly crowded. I would say all in all the crowds were manageable. If you (or your parents) HATE crowds, then do not go. But if you are accustomed to crowds in the summer, then I would say (based on my experience) that it isn't that much worse. Of course MK may be a completely different story. :earboy2:

New Years Eve is one of the busiest days of the year in all of the WDW parks. Very, very crowded.....worse than summer. Also, this year was unseasonably warm here on NYE. Don't expect temps in the 80s (although it can happen), the high 60s-low 70s is more likely. And it can be as low as the 50s (like Christmas Day this year).

Lines will be very, very long for all attractions. Epcot is the best place to spend NYE if you want to even be able to move. But MK is literally *packed*, to the point where it can be difficult to move around.

If you're looking for a better experience, try early December or mid January....low crowds. And in December you get all the holiday decorations and shows with none of the hassle.
