We have been to DLR in early January before and LOVED it, but never on New Years Day. What are crowds typically like for those that have been? I was thinking of heading down for the 1-3rd. Orange County school districts are out that week and there are no blackouts for Deluxe those days.

New Years day morning will usually start a little slow due to everyone having been up late, but by 11am, it is usually in full swing, then when the Rose Parade is out, it will become extremely crowded. The 2nd and 3rd will be fairly packed also since it is the ending days of vacation for many. We are there every year during this time, and we love it, BUT we are used to the crowds, and really don't do a ton of rides.

Rose Parade? I don't think I have heard of this. Same thing as the Rose Bowl?

The Rose Parade happens in the morning prior to the Rose Bowl game. It is in Pasadena. Many who go view the parade head to Disneyland after. Many of the bands playing in the Rose Parade will play at DIsneyland (and have all their families there) either in the days leading up to the parade, or after the parade. I love getting to see all the various bands march down Main St.

Jen we are going down for New Year's Eve and the following week to celebrate Katy's birthday (which is on NYE). We plan to go to the park on NYE but then we are skipping New Year's day and going up to Pasadena to view the floats.

The Rose Parade is the one they show on tv every New Year's Day. It is on like every channel New Year's day morning (that is if you get up before 11 ;) )

We are not even going to the park that day but will be there for the rest of the week.

We are planning on it being packed but like the others said with good planning I think you can still have fun. :)

Oh ok...I have seen and heard of the Rose Parade, but was confused how the two were related. I see now. Hmmm...we may still give it a shot.
