Hi,

here it is:

12/18 – Tired of waiting in line for Guest rooms or Host games? We've got some news for you! The latest VMK game news live and direct from VMK's very own Yavn.

Holidays – Again!
Well we've got about a week left in the holiday season and I'm almost out of things to talk to about – so let's start this week by recapping what's going on around our Kingdom… The Holiday Quest are running now until January 1st at Disneyland and the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World. You also have just a few more days to finish the Santa Clause Quest and win that Cookie Tree. This week in the game you can score that Santa Chair and other Holiday Chairs, so get in there and grab a seat, so to speak.

Take a seat on Santa's Sleigh.

As you look ahead to the New Year, you're probably saying 'OK, Yavn what's next?' Well, we've got lots of exciting surprises in store for you in the New Year, new lands, new features and more cool new stuff. Over the next few weeks I'll be talking about some of these new things we'll be rolling out in early January. Stay tuned, as long as you're reading the Newsletter you'll know exactly how these new things work and when they'll be going into the game.

VMK Pass

This week I'm very pleased to announce, drumroll please… VMK Pass! What's VMK Pass? Glad you asked, simply put, VMK Pass allows you to be in 2 places at one time. Basically, while you are in line to enter a Guest room, you can be off somewhere else in the game instead of waiting in line! So the next time you're debating about entering a Guest or Host room, get a VMK Pass!

Behold! The VMK Pass!
YavnSpks-2006-12-18-VMKPass.gif

Here's how it works: You're in line to enter a Guest room, click on the Guest room you wish to enter and one of three things will happen:

– If the room is not full - you'll enter the room immediately.

– If the room is full, but you are within 5 people from entering the room – you will be placed in queue and enter the Guest room when it's your turn.(This is the way the game currently works.)

– If the room has more than 5 people ahead of you waiting to get in - you will be asked if you want to get a VMK Pass to enter the room. Once you get your VMK Pass you can now go to any other Guest or public spaces in VMK. (PLEASE NOTE: You cannot play any mini games such as Pirates of the Caribbean, Haunted Mansion or the Tomorrowland Arcade while you have a VMK Pass.) Finally when you are within 5 players from entering the Guest room you have a VMK Pass for, a window will appear on screen notifying you and give you the option to join the line. You have 20 seconds to decide to join the line, once you decide you want to get back in line, click the option and you'll be placed in the queue – otherwise you will be removed from the line.

Here's a few other things that will help you maximize your VMK Pass experience:

1. The line queue system is changing slightly and the Mickey Heads are being replaced with actually numbers. You need to remember that when you click on the Guest Room menu the number shows how many people are in the room at that exact moment. The menu does not update until you click on it again or open another tab.

2. Lines (or queues) no longer have limits on how many people are ahead of you in line, so be aware that you may be behind many people.

3. You can only have 1 VMK Pass at any given time. If you would get into another line, the current VMK Pass you're holding will be replaced for the new Guest room you're wanting to enter.

4. Entering any mini-games (Pirates of the Caribbean, Haunted Mansion, Jungle Cruise, Fireworks, Tomorrowland Arcade) will void and cancel your VMK Pass.

5. Having a VMK Pass won't make the line move any faster. What it does do is allow you make better use of your time while waiting.

New Years Celebration!

Finally, don't forget to join us for New Year's Eve and help us celebrate 2007, VMK style! The game will be open an additional 3 hours so we can ring in the New Year with our friends at Disneyland! We'll also have a new hat to commemorate the celebration, it will be on sale starting the evening of the 31st and be on sale all New Years day!

Now back to testing some of these cool new goodies, including an item I'll talk about next week, something called 'VMK Tickets.' Hmmm. The plot thickens!

See you in the game,
Yavn

Hi,
The newsletter explains how you get the pass and houw it works.

I don't think they have started using it yet, bc I am in a line of 23, no offer

My guess is that the change might occur when they take the decorations down and put the game back into regular mode so to speak. Notice the title on the VMK pass...Is this a hint...???

Yea, i noticed that, I think Toontown as the new land is inevitable and i'm wrong yet again

Well, Yavn usually anounces things right before they come out. I can't wait until this pass comes out!!!!

:hyper: That has to be the greatest thing I've read in a newsletter yet! It kind of stinks that you can't play any minigames while holding a pass, but I can fully understand why. Don't need to be thrown into a guest room while you're in the middle of a game, or just the opposite, miss out on going into the room because you're in a game. And I like the number system to replace the Mickey heads, as well as unlimited queues.

I wonder if this works for public rooms, too. Like when there's a quest going on and all the instances of a room are packed, if you're six or more back, will you get a pass for those, too?

And if you notice, he said new landS, plural. ;)

Now we just ned to find out what those tickets are.

Am i the only one who thinks the endless queue is a bad idea? I don't want to be waiting behind 2000+ people to get a stinkin' pin. Maybe this is staff's way of making HOST prizes more rare? The pass is definitely a good idea though.. still a little confused on how it works, but once it's up and running, i'm sure we'll all get the hang of it quickly.

But won't the extra time it takes waiting in line (which you won't even have to do anymore) be worth it to KNOW you're going to get into the room and not have to fight to just get in line so you can have a chance at getting something. Like Hula's Yard Sale, for example, it was impossible to get in line for. This will make no game hard to get in line for :teeth:

I would certainly welcome longer lines if it meant that HOST_ pins weren't basically worthless at the end of the month.

There is no gaurentee you will get in. he says it will not make lines move any faster. I can see waits now of 1546...

My guess is also that if game ends let say at 11 then boom they close the room. I can not see them saying well we have a 1000 people to get through.

Well, Cap, haha...this would be a great thing for me considering I NEVER get into the line of a Host event...let alone actually in the room itself lol. Since the pass will allow us to do other things, it will be SO nice...a VMK miracle, really! :rotfl:

It's good as long as they let everyone in line go through the game even after game is closed. I'm guessing they will have to post shorter game hours to accomodate everyone. My only negative is that if I lose a game, the wait will be endless to try again. The only game I really ever have a problem getting in right now is Hula's yard sale.

I completely agree with Mnementh, alot of people say that it wouldn't be a good idea to have unlimited lines, but I think it would be fantastic. You will get in line no matter what, and be almost guaranteed a shot at getting in the Host room. What's not to like about that?

I think most people don't want longer lines because their luck will be useless; getting into the lines is just luck and people want to be lucky and get in before other people who have been trying for 40+ minutes to get in. It seems a little selfish when you think about it; some people might not have the patience to try and get in the lines ( Arg, my first day trying to get into a Host room it was Aqua Fire  ), but if they can get in the line easily then the wait is longer for other people. Give people a chance, would you? My slow computer can't handle getting into a Host line  But my fast one is pretty good :teeth:

Im on the against list.

I remember the days of unlimited lines like many here do not. It was a joke, an absolute joke to wait behind 600+ people for EVERY game it would literally take hours to get in. hula's yard sale is a prime example of the kind of garbage that happened. with a queue of 50 it still took over an hour to get in, can you imagine it with a queue of 600? - if 50 takes an hour, 600 will take 12 hours - 12 hours - are you going to actually be able to stay on VMK for 12 hours waiting to get into the host room? if they start the game at 5:30PST, you would be at number 350 when VMK closed for the night. This does not increase the chances of getting in, it DECREASES them. You are now LESS LIKELY to be able to get into the host room. Mulers/multis will rule the day again because of this. You will have maybe 100 legitimate players in line and then 500 multis and some will do it just out of spite, load up a 2nd pc with 4 accounts and dump them in line - if 10 do that, you are already at 40 dummy line holders... all I can think of is "Halloween Maze Disaster"

Boy, was someone's hot cocoa cold this evening?

I joined last March. I remember when it was slightly easy to get into a Host room: I was not waiting all day for 5:29 like I am now. Then Pirate month hit: I could never get into a room. The only rooms I could get into was the "Hang with Hula" kind of rooms. (Secret to all you new players who are courteous: I kindly asked Hula for a Jolly Roger pin and she nicely gave it to me :goodvibes ). Twas the first instance in the Pirate-Hula friendship. :thumbsup2

I think it'll be easier this time around: you do the same waiting at 5:29, then get in line at like 75 or so, and you're golden. You get in no matter what.

I am completely all for this and think Yavn+co have succeeded in fixing a terrible problem.

I love the VMK Pass idea. Except for the fact that when I'm in a queue, I would love to be getting credits at the same time. :(
I guess that would be the best time to be entering codes.

I am also torn about the endless queues. While I want longer than 50 people queues, I don't know if endless is the right answer. I also remember the days of 600+ queues and the nightmares of trying to finally get into those rooms. At least the dc problem is mostly fixed. But, since the dc problem has been fixed, it also takes much longer to get thru the queues. :confused3

Well, I welcome the change with open arms. Back before they started putting a limit on the number of people in line, at least I WAS ABLE TO WAIT IN LINE, thus increasing my chances of getting into the room. After that, not a chance. Just one "We're sorry, this line is too full yadda yadda.." right after another. I don't believe I've ever been in a host room since the limit was put into place.
