New X-Mas Decor at the Grand Floridian

I like the new one as much as the old. Things change and will never appeal to everyone. I can appreciate the narrower tree as allowing more room to walk around it and view the other decorations in the lobby.

I would be thrilled just to be there to see it.

Thanks for the link to the photo! Smaller, narrower, less lights and decorations. Not "GRAND" as in years past. A pretty tree no doubt but it looks like it belongs in PO. I guess its time for me to make my call to the resort.

I think the new tree looks a little sad. I definitely don't think it is as grand as the previous tree. Kind of a let down.

:cool1: I very much agree with you. I can't wait to see it in person. :happy1:
I'm going to do the single digit dance soon. :jumping1:

There is a BIG difference...I think I prefer last year's, but it is still pretty.

Can't wait to see AKL in a few weeks!

We also preferred the poinsetta tree over the mirror one.

When we visited the GF last year at Thanksgiving, we were told then that this was the last year for the tree. All the resort trees are on a cycle for update/redo.

We were very disappointed in the BC tree last year. When we stayed there in the past, there was a tree decorated in pastels with shells and a mermaid on the top. Last year the tree had red and dark colors in it. It did not go with the BC theme as well as the old tree.

I guess they like to try new things.

Call me Weird, but I like and dislike different things about this tree. First off, the lights.........the Grand Floridians colors are really white and red, so why would they use yellowish lights for the tree. It makes it look dull. I can understand narrowing the tree to be able to see other things and goings on in the main building, but the lights are what really BLAH:worried: the tree for us. I am sure that the ornaments are nice, the height and width are fine but THE LIGHTS!!! I'll shut up now that I have vented. We will be there the end of January so we won't see the tree this year, but I have to say..........I'll give it a chance. :scratchin I think.

Please let me know it's not just me. I would feel better know that it's not me. I can live with the other things, it's just the LIGHTS.

Thanks,
Wendi:goodvibes

I just got back from the Grand Floridian!!! I had the most wonderful trip ever!!! I got engaged!!!! Anyway... the tree is smaller but is still very very large to me anyway... It towered up the lobby pretty hight it was just a little thinner than usual... It was very beautiful and had the same decorations as usual I think but they were smaller... The lights were yellow but I still loved it. Maybe I am just biased and love the Grand Floridian no matter what but I thought it was beautiful. I did take some pictures of it but I can't seem to get them small enough to post them. However, I just dropped off my regular camera film and maybe I can scan them and make them the right size but I am not making any promises. My advice it to wait until you see it before you panic.. I read this post right as I was leaving but kept an open mind and when I got there I still loved it! :earseek: :Pinkbounc

I was there just this Monday and I saw no problem with the tree. It's a little odd looking because it's so thin at the top but I still thought it was pretty!
