Ok, I promised to do a report after my cruise because I got so much information from other reports. So I will give it my best shot.
This is our first cruise-EVER!!! So I have nothing to compare. BTW- some may say I am a little "quirky", so hope you can follow along!!
I don't typically like to start off anything with a complaint. I try to use the "flatter, however; slam" method. But I feel I must share this to get it off my chest!
----------------------------------------
On thursday morning they.... KICKED ME OFF!!! I did nothing to deserve this. I begged, I pleaded, I threatened to hide, to no avail. I was told to be a big girl and learn to share. So to those who come after me... enjoy yourself, but know that they will make you leave too! And don't say that you weren't warned!! hehe
Pre-Cruise Day
We drove down to PC on Sat so we could get to the ship early on Sunday morning. We stayed at the Country Inn & Suites. I highly reccommend this hotel. It was brand new and seemed more upscale that I would have expected. We had a 1br suite for $99. Very roomy and decorated nicely. But the best part was that it was the closest hotel to the ports. We had a great view and could see the Wonder and the Magic from the 4th floor. Now I must stop here and say that according to the DIS boards, this happens very infrequently. It was because the Wonder was just back from Drydock. -You see, they heard I was planning a cruise, so they decided to update the ship...just for me- don't try to convince me otherwise...
I have a couple of pictures from the 4th floor. If I can figure out how to get the pix frm my camera to this post, I will post them.
Anyway, after we checked in, we decided to go to the port for a dry run before embarkment. This is where the "Magic" began and a sense of "Wonder" siezed me. As we were working our way to the Disney terminal, we made a wrong turn and ended up at the other end of the port. The Wonder was docked right where we ended up! WOW- she's beautiful. Being the avid scrapbooker that I am, of course I had to get out to take pictures. There were other people there also, some with camcorders, which I found odd because what is there to record except a still, parked/docked ship. Now if you know anything about southern girls, you know we never meet a stranger. So off I went asking about the camera. I met a lovely couple from Orlando and lo' and behold, the woman was a DISer!! (I knew there was something about her I liked). She even had a lime green drink koozie, which she said wasn't planned, but I knew it was the "Magic" working. She said the Magic was about to launch and soon it would pass the Wonder. HOW COOL!!! That was something I wasn't going to miss. We talked about her postings that I had read that very morning back here in my little Georgia town; it is a small world after all! Sorry, I am babbling, .... Anyway, we watched the Magic come down the canal and then I heard the most beautiful sound -- the Magic blowing her horn. Now I don't want to spoil it for those who haven't experienced it, but I really teared up. As she passed the Wonder, the Wonder saluted the Magic with a horn blow of her own--- Umm, big fat crocodile tears--. Then I'll be doggone if the both didn't blow those horns again. I felt like a proud Momma.
My new friend sent me a clip of it and I got all teary eyed again. My 12 yr daughter though I got a little to attached the the ships. What can I say, I'm a sentimental kinda' girl.
So I can now say that "the road less traveled" (it really was) was the road that led us to see the "Wonder"ful, "Magic"al experience of two ships passing in the night. (ok, it was afternoon, but you know what I mean).
Ok, I know I still haven't even boarded the ship in my report, but I must go cook dinner. I will post more tonight or in the morning...
