In another thread, a poster (beautifultomorrow) mentioned that they had just come back from DTD and ate at WGP. They mentioned that the menu had several deleted item on it. I searched WGP personal website and found his new menu. It does appear that several changes have occured. Unfortunatly for me all the steaks are off. :sad1:

Anyway, here is the link:

Yeah, I'm changing our ADR for that day to somewhere else. No need to travel to DTD if the menu doesn't offer anything my DH will eat.

Well, they still have two of my favorite items, the butternut squash soup and the pumpkin ravioli so I guess I will still go but it will not be perfect without my flourless chocolate cake.

Not that I love the place or anything but if I was forced to I would admit that WP is probably the main reason we are going back for 'free' dining this year!!

Oh, that's so painful!! I am going in a few weeks and was soooo looking forward to having one of the steaks! :guilty:

I just called the restaurant and said I had been so looking forward to having one of the steaks on my upcoming trip to Florida and noticed they're no longer on the menu. I asked if they really weren't serving any steaks now or if they would be offered in the form of nightly specials.

She said the steaks are being served upstairs. I (nicely) said "Oh, really? So it's upstairs only?" She said yes, the downstairs accepts the DDP and upstairs doesn't. Now that I think about it, the comment came from a little out of nowhere because I hadn't mentioned the DDP or even Disney at all.

So. . . that makes me think they really were removed because of the DDP. That really stinks! I had avoided making reservations at other steak places because I was planning on getting steak at WGP's and didn't want to be redundant! :sad2:

So funny to "run" into people on other threads!! We're going to WPC while we're down there too. 7PM ressie on 9/25. I can't wait for Grandma Puck's Bolognese, just like my Nona's!!!

Well, I was going to have the crabcakes, and thee filet. But, now I will be forced to get that delicious calamari, and I will try the veal, for dessert all the way carrot cake again...MMMMMMMM yummy!

I hang around the Boards all the time but when I have a trip planned I post more often. Glad to see you too Pooch. I checked my ADR's just in case. We will be at Capt Jack's that night, the other side of DTD. Have not been there forever. It is more for dh than I.

One thing I really like about Puck's other than the fabulous food is being able to watch them back in the kitchen. I am a Mystery Shopper and a picky person when it comes to clean kitchens so that is a big bonus for me. BTW, I like Golden Corral for the same reason. :rotfl2:

Will I see you at one of the POP GLOW parties? I hope to make a few of them. I think I am down for 3 right now. Hope I can stay up that late.

Yea, I feel everyone's pain. I'll have to think hard about that being a DDP meal. I have an ADR and may keep it and have some sushi and let those points go another place.

To the poster who mentioned the flourless chocolate cake: they were serving that when we ate there last Saturday. Maybe it's not always on the menu but they did have it then.

beautifultomorrow, thank you so much. I was hoping that might be true.

BTW, we are neighbors as I live in Southern Indiana as well, near Columbus.

Want me to bring you back a piece of cake?:)

My trip is in about 4 weeks - Me (26), boyfriend (28), and parents (57) on DDP for the first time. I'm experienced with ADRs - we go to WDW twice a year, but since we are on the DDP this time, we have more of a plan than usual. We have a late dinner booked at WPC one night, but without the steaks and other various menu items, wondering if it is a mistake to go. I know changing and finding another "better" place this late in the game will be tough. It appears there are still menu items that everyone will like, but as people who have never been there before, do you think it's still worth it for us to go?:confused3

Disney pays the non-Disney restaurants approximately $26 for a TS meal. You can't blame a restaurant adjusting a menu so they can profitably serve food for the price they're being paid. Free dining probably means a lot (maybe even a majority) of the customers are using the dining plan.

Originally WPC charged a small surcharge for a couple of the entrees. DDP guests don't want to be "second class customers" so restaurants drop items rather than impose a surcharge.

Most restaurants with price fixed menus have surcharges for the more expensive items.

Well, it looks like we'll probably be cancelling our WGP ADR. I'm really looking forward to having a great steak and potatoes kind of meal! :) Looks like we'll be eating at either Citricos or having Grand Floridian room service (which they said they'd deliver to us by the marina). Either one would take 2 table credits, but hopefully we'd get a great meal!

All this time people have been arguing that the DDP didn't change menus and didn't change portion sizes. You've just made the argument that it did and does. Free dining is only "free" to the patron. WDW and nonWDW restaurants get paid the same whether it is free or not. The only difference is in the mix of patrons. And with menus having already been streamlined and portions downsized, the other option left to do is to remove more expensive entrees when the mix of patrons tilts toward a higher percentage of DDP during free dining.

Excuse my snarkiness. The DDP did not cause changes in quantity and quality argument has always been a pet peeve of mine. No restaurant will continue to be profitable if they are spending more than they are being paid for a dinner. Restaurant servers are running ragged trying to keep up with the busy pace of the restaurants. WDW doesn't appear to be able to or perhaps doesn't want to hire more servers. Overhead is fairly fixed with the exception of profit percentage on food. Slash portion sizes and remove intricate preparations and you bring in greater profitability. Take expensive items off the menu when you are received a set amount of money per meal and you again create greater profitability.

Well, anyhow, it's moot. What will be, is.
