New WL concierge lounge confirmed

Hello,

Thank you for your email. I have confirmed that there will be construction on the 7th floor. They will creating a new lounge for concierge. The construction is to begin approximately April 3rd and will last approximately 3 months.

They are going to use the area that currently houses one of the Honeymoon suites. They will have more seating and a big screen tv. They still won't have an actual lounge but I like the idea of having an open area that overlooks the lobby.

Construction was originally due to start in January.

I wouldn't count on it starting on time. It will be great if it does but it keeps getting postponed.

I think this is a great thing for WL and look forward to seeing the finished product.

Good news! I wonder if it'll be in the place of a MK view one, or a villa view one? I'd guess they'd do it with the MK view, then all concierge guests can enjoy the view.

There are 4 honeymoon suites on the 7th floor from what I remember, definitely 2 on the villa side and 2 (?) on the MK side. I stayed on the villa side last February and the view out from the suite did leave something to be desired... Wouldn't it be nice if they opened up the MK side and added glass not unlike what is on the 4th floor to watch the fireworks!

Would they just demolish 1 suite and leave the other?

Unfortunately, they said that the suite they are going to take out is the one directly across the hall from the concierge desk where the CM's work.

Who knows if this is true. Originally, they said they were going to extend the lounge are further out into the courtyard.

I guess we'll all find out sooner or later.

Hmm I have a reservation for a HM suite in December, do you think that this will affect me negatively? PLEASE SAY NO! Our honeymoon suite was already ruined at GF due to Hurricane Jeanne.

Unfortunately, they said that the suite they are going to take out is the one directly across the hall from the concierge desk where the CM's work.

That would be the villa side. The entrances to the suites are actually across from the totem polls. But... there are 2 suites there. I would assume that they would be demolishing both. I can't see them just demolishing 1. You would be turning a private area into a very public one.

Even though the honeymoon suites enter onto the main portion of the lodge, they are actually quite remote. They are the only rooms that open in this way on the 7th floor; all of the other 7th floor rooms open through the wings. There may be less lounge space and the concierge guests will definitely notice the construction, but other than that, I do not forsee a lot of disruption.

Come to think of it, they would have to do construction on the villa side as there are less structural issues. The MK side has the stairway to the roof directly above the suites.

Aren't there only 4 honeymoon suites at the WL? If they take out possibly 2 Honeymoon suites would htey convert anymore rooms to suites? I am little disappointed because I was considering the Honeymoon suites there for Mid-May 2006, but now I am afraid I won't get it if there are only 2.
