We got to experience the new wishes viewing areas last night-- I have to say it was great. Cast members did an awesome job of directing and crowd management. (keeping other guests from standing in front of the reserved viewing area) Everyone sat on the astro turf (like I recall going to fire works shows as a kid in a field at some athletic or park area) and had tons of room around them so as not to interfere with each other. The turf was super soft and we had no problem sitting for the show. Best Wishes viewing experience we have ever had.

Only concern I have heard is the light poles and things like that in the way of people there to take pictures experience any of those problems?

we got there late and sat right behind a light pole--wife leaned left and I leaned right and it was fine. even so, the space provided was so great that a pole wouldn't make a difference. All of you guys expect more than is possible with the crowd levels that have become reality now that there is no way they can live up to your expectations. We just returned to our room from epcot where we saw the Gin Blossoms for free, ( whatever) and had an amazing second night, so complain all you want, this has been tghe best trip I have had in a long time and I add it up to MMP, FPP,and all the improvements Disney is doing to increase the experience. Sorry I don't fit into the mold you guys are trying to create.

Interesting thanks for sharing. I haven't seen it yet and am definitely interested to do so whenever I get back next. I think the new hub will be a definite improvement on the last. My last trip was also great. The poles were the only concern I have seen about the new viewing areas otherwise everyone likes it.

I am so excited to read this! I came on the forums today to see if there was anything posted about this, since I have FP+ for this next month. I am thrilled to hear that you weren't squished (which is what bothers me most about the crowds at this), but actually had room to sit and view the fireworks.

Thanks for sharing! Is it chaotic when they let people in to reserve spots?

It's a FPP reservation, so you enter by touching the mickey heads. We showed up late, were admitted through the FPP entrance, and found a spot in the grass that fit the two of us easily. I don't know how it was for the earlier entries, but at least for now they seem to have limited the access enough to allow plenty of room. I guess this could always change.....

Sounds like great use of a FP! Dave, did you have to sit up until midnight 180 days out to get it? Just wondering how quick they go.

It's 60 days for the FPP---(if you are staying on property) Sounds like you may have a little research ahead of you, but you are in the right place to do it. It depends on the time of year, but these are coveted passes. I think I got them on the 60 day mark, but not at the opening moment. It also was for early march, prior to the spring break crowds. Definitely a great one to have. we just sat in the "grass" and waited for everyone to leave. Best to pick a night where the park is open later than the fireworks show to avoid the transportation back up after the show. We were staying at BLT, so no problem just having a short stroll "home".

It's kind of luck of the draw. They've been all gone for my trip in April but 4 finally opened up tonight for april 19th and I snagged them. So if they happen to be gone and your after one just check in once or twice a day and hopefully it'll open up.

Do you have to sit to be in the reserved area? I am not very limber and getting down to the ground and up again will be a problem. Are you allowed to stand in the back?

Laura

It's all choice. Depending on where you are in the area it may be better to sit or stand.

That's good to know, thanks!

Can you see these fireworks very well from OUTSIDE the MK? Either from the Poly or GF beach areas?

I love it...well played.

Just like I couldn't resist pointing out its a 12 year old show and there's no mystery...so nobody should soil themselves ;)
Well the rumors that a new show is in the works just popped back up. I think Steve Davison will bring his talents back to WDW after the 60th.

You fell into the tiger snare...

"I hear a rumor that Mr. ____ is gonna come to wdw and build/change x....but only after he/she/it finishes with Y"

Tssk tssk tssk...
You know better ;)

I seem to remember when the "architect" of Carsland was put in wdw...it was a near guarantee that it was coming...or on the retreat - that it meant that something big was coming...or as Washington reached ft necessity (love the French and Indian war references) - that it meant they really were gonna spruce up the parks like they did at Disneyland...

Seems like only yesterday... Not like 2,3,4 years ago...

Funny thing happened though...bookings, ticket, and bibbiddi bobbity boutique sales didnt go down...
