Apparently a picture is worth a thousand words only if it has NEGATIVE message. I had been following that thread and the same posters who don't understand why someone's experience isn't taken at its word are the same posters who will immediately dismiss any POSITIVE reports..

I think you had it backwards-switched it for you.

The "negative" pic was worth a thousand words to you, the "positive" pic was dismissed by you.

I didn't dismiss the "positive" pic, I actually supplied additional information to support the conditions it was representing. In fact, I didn't label either of them as positive or negative - you did.

I have to admit I am curious about something - you certainly have a lot of pictures that you've taken, have you taken any that you considered "negative" or did you only take pictures of things you considered to be "positive"?

Or did you just not run into or see any "negative" conditions at all?

I never questioned your experiences. What I questioned was your speaking about Laketravis' experiences.

That quote wan't from you so no worries. And yes LT I'm sure has some pretty negative input and rightfully so IMO.

Well I'm not a negative person (not that you or others are), beyond positive actually. That does tend to minimize something appearing negative and wanting to take a picture of it I suppose. CM's and other guests are not a factor-just not worth it.

But I can't fake what the kiosk was presenting as available. And the kiosk lines were minimal.

The XMAS week had huge lines I suppose, but we simply used the app to select 3 FP+ for the evenings and avoided the lines. Did what we wanted the mornings and afternoons.

But I will look.

Heres one:

The parade and Wishes were not available at 10:15, but I think they opened up later.

I used it to show what a "FP+ selection" looks like when not available "Standby Only". The rest with "checks" are available.

I feel like there's a whole aspect to this thread that I am completely missing -- sort of like someone new joining a big family dinner gathering where long-simmering conversations are continuing....

But as someone who's considering whether or not to keep a FP+ for Wishes, I appreciate all the experiences that posters have shared. So :thanks:

+1 to the above.

Anyone having a recent experience with the Wishes FP+ please report your experiences. Trying to decide myself whether to keep mine.

There are 2 large bushes in the middle of the viewing area. I suggest setting up your tripod behind the 2nd bush - the one closer to Main Street. Extend your tripod to its maximum height and you should get an unobstructed view of the castle. This spot avoids the light posts. I had my lens at 28mm and was able to get all of the bursts.

Good luck!
Totally digging the shots! Nice shooting! Those are some really helpful tips, thanks so much. If I stuck with the FP for that night of my trip that was the exact spot I had my eyes on actually. I had been all over YouTube and whatnot and couldn't get a good enough feeling for it though, so thanks for confirming that. Those lamp posts aren't that intrusive (I'd rather they not be there, but what can ya do?), but I guess I will just have to put up with it. I have another shoot planned back in Fantasyland later on in the trip, but I think I will give this a shot.

I call dibs on the bush when I am there for the 24 hour event! :D

I' m trying to figure out if it would be worth it for our party of 11. Looking forward to hearing more experiences. Thanks!

It isn't about anyone only believing positive posts or only believing negative posts. No one person has access to a full story. That's why we gather here to discuss our experiences with one another. We provide pieces of a puzzle by sharing our POV. Everyone contributing creates a picture of the current reality at WDW that we can then examine.

With that said, I enjoy Jade's photos. I feel they provide a lot of information like time, date, availability, etc. For me, the photos don't leave many questions unanswered. If I did have a question, I know she'd answer it.

OTOH, I don't get the same level of information from someone when they say something like "many attractions had SB waits at over an hour by 9:30". I find a statement like that to be vague and begs questions like:

"Which attractions?"
"What do you consider many?"
"Really? Because another poster already posted wait times for just 30 minutes later and those times suggest otherwise."

Now there is nothing wrong with posting the above statement. I completely understand someone giving "on the ground" reports is not going to have the time or patience to go into complete detail about everything. If they did, they'd be wasting precious vacation time. However, if certain statements seem vague or illogical, it shouldn't be frowned upon to ask questions to better understand the poster. Doing so does not mean you don't believe them.

Also, It's okay to like one style of posting over the other because it's all about which perspective you prefer. I prefer Jade's approach. She often just posts a picture, no commentary at all. I appreciate that because I'm a Vulcan at heart, and really just want the facts, and not the emotions they elicit. ;)

Now back to your regularly scheduled programming, because, I too, would like to read more Wishes FP+ reports. ::yes::

It's not a puzzle at all. Anyone can see the posted wait times any time they want by simply pulling them up on MDE or EasyWDW. And if you have an AP you'd probably find logging into MDE and checking FP+ availability at any time to be far more factual and useful than a picture of one kiosk taken at a particular moment in time several weeks ago.

Both methods (checking wait times and FP availability online) have been used to refute first-person reports so apparently they are already considered by some to be a more accurate basis.

That's too bad that it is so crowded if those reports are true. We did a Wishes FP last summer and it was really nice. Ah, I guess that was too good to last.

We actually prefer watching Wishes from the upper train station platform.

Looking again at the pictures posted by jade1 I may have underestimated the number of bushes by 1. Anyhow, just set up your tripod behind the bush that's closest to Main Street and you should be fine. Good luck!

I thought it was obvious that my reference to "pieces of a puzzle", was meant generally. I was in no way speaking specifically about wait times.

Obviously.

Wasn't that the point I was making?

I do not have an AP.

If that's all you know of Jade's pics then you havent been following along. She has pictures of far more than just kiosks screens.

I do. Let me know whenever you're wondering what FP availability looks like and I'll be more than happy to check for you.

I'm sure by now everyone has an excellent idea of what those pictures are of. They are literally burned into our minds.

I wouldn't bother with it. They're packing in too many people and instructing everyone to stand. It's hardly relaxing or enjoyable. Don't be fooled by that one tripod picture posted in this thread. That was probably at a 7 foot height and aimed up over people's heads. Everyone else will be looking through each other and stepping on toes. You're better off finding a spot for your group elsewhere. Fortunately there are plenty of places to watch Wishes in Magic Kingdom.
