New Wishes fp+ Viewing Area

They actually have implemented lines into the concrete to show guests where to stand-similar to putting tape down every night. So the sidewalks were indeed still open-but part of each had standing room as well..

Still tape every night (stock tip: buy 3M), no lines in the concrete. Tape is usually black unless all we happen to have that night for the new areas is green tape.

I'd hate to be the employee in charge of applying tape on the ground every night.... lol

Are you reading reports of those with FP+ arriving late being turned away?

Well that's a bit disheartening... I'm going solo for the 24 hour event in May and thought "saving a spot" during that crazy event would be wise... But just seeing pics and vids of the area, I already have reservations (no pun intended) about using my FP for it. I'm a "photographer" and having lamp posts and people potentially crowding in there standing in front of my tripod isn't going to make for special shots and defeats the purpose really. Seems just as advantageous to save a FP and stand in the crowd else where on Main Street if that's how it's going to be. I'm actually considering just shooting from Frontierland or Fantasyland to avoid the chaos I'm sure will be on Main Street that night in particular.

Thoughts and opinions on this? Should I keep the FP or just try to photograph from a unique angle elsewhere in the park for the 24 hour event? I don't want to jump to conclusions though and I'll save the FP for the moment, but I'll be curious to see more responses about this as the time gets nearer.
I too booked a Wishes FP for the 24 hour day. I'm keeping it, even with the reports here. Still seems worthwhile

But, if you have never photographed (or watched) Wishes fireworks from behind the castle, near the gates to New Fantasy Land, I suggest trying there. It's a very incredible experience unlike anything else I've ever seen. You miss the castle projection show so I would only suggest it to those who can see that another time but watching Wishes back there could garner some great photos

Doesn't happen. If anyone is turned away it is because they did not have a FP.
Thanks. That's what I sort of figured (hoped at least). When Robo said "Maybe" to someone mentioning they hoped to walk up last minute I wasn't sure.

We do plan to arrive sort of last minute. Not exactly but what I plant to do is get to MK when it opens at 6 AM, tour for a few hours and leave, nap, etc. We plan to return to MK in time for Wishes and then stay till we are too tired. At least until a schedule is released and we alter plans to get in all we want to see/do. We are at CR so at least we won't have transportation to fool with

Have actually let guests in at The Blue Fairy before which is only a couple of minutes from the end.

Being turned away was not my contention.

You talked about an advantage of FP+ as, "being able to stroll up right before it starts..."
With as many guests that have been booked, a last-minute stroll-in may not net you a great viewing spot.
And, that would be about the only motivating factor of FP guests arriving up to 2 hours before show time.
Staking their claim for a position with good viewing.

Subbing...:surfweb: Thinking about getting a FP+ for this in during the crowds of July.

It's weird that I have caught Wishes from Frontierland a couple of times but never from back in Fantasyland... I know exactly the spot you are talking about as that was the location I was scoping out for this trip. I also can catch Wishes on the last night of the trip so I have some wiggle room. I think I will keep the FP and see how the crowds turn out that night (unless the reports keep getting worse); I'm pretty sure I can get through all of my goals in a 24 hour period, with or without an extra FP :D

We just used a Wishes FP on Monday - the 30th. We arrived at 8:25pm, our FP said 8:35pm and the place was already full. So, get there earlier than your FP. People were sitting in the grassy area and when Celebrate came on and Wishes, everyone stood up. Not only stood up, but put their 6-7 year old children on their shoulders, right in the front. But, there was enough room, that you could step back and get a decent view. It was nice to watch the two shows straight on in front of the castle without being competely smooshed against total strangers, like what was happening outside of the FP area. Glad I wasn't out there, so I think it was worth it. But I should add, this was our third day in the MK, so we had done all the rides/attractions we wanted to already, so we could sort of throw away this FP, meaning, not be able to book another until later at night.

If you don't really care about watching the Celebrate show and that your fireworks are not straight on to the castle, I should add that we had a GREAT spot another night at the entrance to the Circus area. We sat on the ledge around Dumbo, ate our popcorn and caramel apple with NO crowds around us and we had a PERFECT view of the fireworks right above us.

This is the main reason I had hoped they'd continue sitting. I've never understood the need to stand. If everyone sat, no one would need to put their kids on their shoulders. We're still getting the fp+. Until
I read reports of people fighting for position and getting their feet run over it's still worth it to us.

Oh no.... Wishes FP+ just became wide open for the next 60+ days.
Please tell me they didn't release even MORE FP+???

Perhaps they'll open it up enough that it reduces the crowds outside the fp+ area? That would be really nice! :)

Crowd levels on this day were a 9. I imagine MK was very crowded overall that day?

I don't THINK so, Tim.

Yes. There was a 7am opening, which indicates large crowds. We took advantage of the early hours and for that reason we were able to do many attractions in the am with no or little wait and save up the Wishes FP for the evening.

So, do you think the FP viewing is going to be a set amount of people each night, or are they going to let more people in when crowds are expected to be larger?

I'm sure they will pack as many people as they can squeeze in there, especially during busy times. Like standing sardines.

I think it's nice that people can sit in that area. Hopefully they get the kinks worked out. Do you think they will have fast pass for MNSSHP? Or maybe it won't be needed?
