*NEW* WISH Weight Loss Thread for 2008 - All are welcome

I'll jump onto this thread. I started WW in October with a 12 week committment for a weightwatchers at work group. I lost not quite 18 pounds in that time, and felt so much better. We're trying to get up enough to do another WW at work, but if we can't, then I am definitely heading to the local meeting on January 14th.

My hope is to lose 52 pounds this year. It scares me because in the past, I have always blown everything I've ever tried. And I really need to lose the weight. Good luck to everyone.

I'd like to join you guys in losing. My goal is to lose at least 50lbs and be able to get of my blood pressure pills. I've messed around too many years at this weight loss game, it is now time to WIN! Let's do it :thumbsup2

I really want one of those *loser* tags in my siggie

Otto's Doll. My goodness. Just caught your counter! Holy! Way to go. So inspiring. Congratulations to you.

Lisa

Thank you! It has been almost 2 years since I started my new lifestyle, and I am getting back on track after being lax over the holidays. I am feeling better already! I am currently in a (tight!) size 8 jeans, and just want them to be comfortable again!

I probably won't post every week, since I have issues with the scale, so tend to weigh in just 2x per month.

Good luck to everyone!

I want to join in too. My 50th birthday is coming up in June and I want to lose 40 pounds this year.

Hi everyone- I am new to this thread not really sure how it works but I definitely want to loose some weight this year. Actually I e-mailed my doctor last Monday to talk to him about gastric bypass surgery. Is there anyone here that has done that. I know one woman, that recently moved away so I am not in contact with her anymore, who had it done. She was very happy with the outcome. I know it is a life change and that part is pretty scary. I am having doubts of "If I can't stick to exercise and high protein low carbs now how am I going to do it after a life altering surgery?" I am not big on sugar so that wouldn't be a biggy for me just high fat foods. Anyway, I could definitely use some kind of support no one in my circle of work and friends deals with weight issues so they don't get it at all.

I know a couple of people who have had the surgery, and one has done awesome and lost and kept off over 100 pounds. The other girl, had lost, and struggles going up and down again. She was probably a 26-28 before the surgery, and now goes from 16-20ish, I would say. It is definitely a lifestyle change that has to occur. The hospital I work at started a gastric bypass program a few years ago, and before you had the surgery, you had to spend 6 months going to counseling at the lifestyle management department, so the surgeon was sure you were serious and committed to the lifestyle. From what I heard, most of the people who went, lost weight with the dieticians and exercise at the lifestyle mgmt dept, that they chose not to have the surgery. It's so hard no matter what. Good luck with your decision. I hope your doctor is helpful and supportive.

we'll I started my new eating plan on 1/1/08 and i just weighed my self and I have lost 6 lbs!!!!!!

So my total for 2008 so far: 6 lbs

Hello everyone! I'm glad to have found this section (I often wondered about the wish signatures! :lmao: )

I have been a yo-yo dieter my whole life. My middle name should be Duncan. ;) I've been on every diet known to mankind.

Four years ago I promised myself that I would have a new attitude and never diet again. Of course, one month later I was pregnant, and so began my upward rise to an over 100lb weight gain.

I've been deep in exploring surgical options, but my doctor thinks I should go the old diet and exercise route first. I'm actually excited about starting again.

Fortunately I have a Disney trip next November to plan and look forward to. I don't expect to lose it all by then, but it sure will be easier to get in and out of the space mountain capsules next November!

Me too, Otto's Doll. Although, I must do once a week because I signed up for the BL4. And then I'll definitely do 2times max. Actually, I spent years without a scale and my weight was lower (as in size of course since I didn't have a clue) so Lord knows why I started again.

I would like to join too!! I have about 80 lbs to lose, I start TOPS wed. morning and am going to really try to get moving!!!

GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!!!!

I have sent out all my specifics and am waiting for my "buddy".

Here in Michigan it has been a rough start to the New Year already. We got about 7 inches of snow overnight New Years Eve, then on the morning of 1/1/08 we woke up only to have a power outage that lasted from 9:15 a.m. until 7:30 pm, due to a downed wire on account of the heavy snow. I went to work on Wednesday only to have lake effect snow all through the morning to late afternoon for another 6 inches of snow. I got home from work and shoveled the driveway some more. I looked at it from the perspective of lots of exercise here.

This is such a fun thread already, nice to see and learn about all of you.

Hi Lynn,

I dont know what you mean by sending out your specifics and waiting for your buddy...huh?

I am glad I am not in MI!! I love to see snow, for a weekend or so, but by no means do I want enough to shovel. We dont get a lot of snow here, more ice than snow. But that too, is not that often.

Cathy, if you want a buddy you need to look at princess vidja's reply to one of my posts as far as where the buddy list is located. I may be on page 3 on this thread. Did you said her any buddy information from the beginning?

I am going to also PM you a little note.

I am in. I need to lose 55 pounds. I am going on a cruise in Aug and would like to be over my half way point. It will be fun to try on dresses and a lower weight.

I feel that this year will be a great year.
