Morning Teammates.

Hi Nancy -- I wore my Wish shirt last night and my hat doing my 3 miles. I got some comment from a guy hanging off his 3rd floor porch drinking beer about Batteries etc cause it was so bright. Ya - let's see if Mr Beer drinking loser:drinking1 on the 3rd floor can come down and do 13.1 JERK. I know that I won't be hit by a truck and neither will Mark cause the thing is so bright it glows. Perfect for me!

Very comfortable and so is the hat - LOVE THEM BOTH.

Thoughts and Prayers are with you Erica! :flower3:

Panda said her surgery was scheduled for 9:am, they expect it will take a couple of hours, and he will update us as soon as possible. :goodvibes

Gym last night. The big plus of taking it easy and resting those muscles after the Half Marathon last Sunday is that I felt stronger last night. :yay:

pixiedust: for Erica!
I think our WISH shirts are at the post office, at least, we have a package that needs to be signed for. If weather conditions improve, I will drive in and pick it up. Since yesterday, we are having blowing and drifting snow, very slick roads, and lots of wind! It will all be gone in a day or 2 when the temps go into the 50's - 60's, but yesterday and today are not conducive to anything outside!

Scott and I will also be at the Minnie - our first and last!

I am also primarily a walker, I do run a little, because I do not walk very fast, so I am forced to run to keep up my pace, but when people ask - I am a walker. I envy those like Dave who can walk a pace faster than I run! I am working on speed drills to increase my walking pace, but now, it is between 15-16 min/miles.

Have a good day everyone!

Hi all! I hope you don't mind if I join in.

I started training in January for the Disneyland 1/2 Marathon using walk/run method. I was doing fine when I was doing walk for 4 minutes, run (slowly) 1 minute, but when I got to the part of the program where running increased I started having problems. Part of it I'm sure is that I started trying to run it a bit faster, but now I am thinking that maybe I am just not meant to be a "runner". I had a personal trainer that kept trying to tell me she wanted me to be able to run the first three miles of the 1/2 and that she wanted me to run/walk with only a walk break every 5 minutes. At some point I started to feel more pressure instead of the anticipation that I originally had. I left the trainer and now I am trying to decide what I want to do. I think I will have to do a little running because I at least so far cannot maintain a walking pace that would allow me to finish the 1/2. However it just dawned on me (duh) that I was maintaining a 15-16 minute pace walking 4 minutes running 1 and I was enjoying myself much more.

I have shin splints/calf pain right now so after my first 5K this Sunday I am taking a couple of weeks off from walking to give myself some time to heal. Then I am going to start training in earnest for the 1/2, but with a different attitude/goal. I have always enjoyed walking and I don't want to push myself by thinking I have to be a runner until I can't do either.

You all inspire me with your attitudes and all that you have achieved.

I hope you gave him the finger as you passed!

Nancy: what skirt did you get? I was looking at the site and will not wear the one with the brief, but thought the pregnancy one with the compression shorts might do fine. Also it is about 2 inches longer.
I am very sad about my new WISH tech shirt. I got the extra large V-neck, but the "girls" don't fit in. It is also short on me, so I have the girls coming out of the V and my belly coming out the bottom.....NOT a pretty sight!

If anyone would like an extra large V shirt (they run SMALL) I'll sell it to you at the shirt's cost and ship it to you for free. I won't be able to use it at all.

Jeanne, you can always bring it with you to Minnie to the meet. I usually take stuff I need to get rid of to the meets...:lmao:

Good luck Erica with your surgery!

Heading to our Folsom condo for the next 10 days. It is going to be in the 80's for the next 3 days:cool1: I had to have had some other non knee medical issues scome up this week so had Dr's appt on Weds, blood work and x-ray yesterday regarding my big toe on my "good leg". Hurts so much I can't really crutch or move around. Dr thinks it might be gout but it takes away me getting out and about this weekend. I have a lump that I have to get a ultrasound on when I get back to the Lake. Hope it is nothing serious.

Medical issues won't leave me alone.

I am now up to 55 degrees on CPM. Ortho DR wants 5 degree increase a day. So since Monday almost doubled the angle. I also start PT on Monday(Weds & Fri) in Folsom.

I ordered Race Ready shirts before and I noticed they do really run small(and short!)

Have a great wekend all!

Jeanne--I'll take your XL V neck shirt unless there is someone who didn't get any shirts and really wants one. I got the athletic skirt with the compression shorts in navy. It is longer than the running skirt. I walked the 4 miles and had to pull the R short down about every half mile. I don't think I can go a smaller size as that would put me in a size 8 or there size 3 and then I would be compressed to much. I loved the look of the skirt and almost want to order another one, but will wait to see if I really like the skirt. To bad your shirt didn't fit as they are so lightweight.

Nancy

Robert--- As I was reading your posting I had the diagnosis of gout before I got to you saying that is what they think it could be. It can be very painful, just what you don't need. Glad your other leg is making progress.

Thanks, Nancy. I 'll bring it in May. It's too bad because I really like it, but I look like a sausage. I got an XL sleeveless tank for John but he will never be able to wear it (also on the small size) so I am going to use that one. It is not as pretty as the v-neck one, though.
I must have missed those athletic skirts......I'll go back and check the website again.

:cheer2: Erica's, surgery went well, she is on her way home!:cheer2:

She said everything went well...as well as she could tell as she was sleeping!
Sounded good but just a bit loopy yet. :goodvibes

Panda will update us soon :flower3:

Erica - Glad to hear that you came out of surgery ok!! Have a great, peaceful and relaxing recovery!!!!!!! Panda take care!!
:cheer2: :grouphug: :flower3:

Hi guys.

We got up at 4am, and headed off to Nashville. It was raining pretty hard all the way down but we beat rush hour traffic. While Erica's surgery was going on a huge storm went across Tenn. There were several tornado warnings all around us. Of course Erica was blissfully unaware. She was in surgery for 2 hours, one hour per foot and then after 30 min in the recovery room they let me go back.

She is doing fine and the procedure went very well. We had to stop when we got home to collect her meds and now she is bedded down in the reclinner. She has big shoes with hard thick bottoms and a walker.

I'll chalk this up as a rest day since I really don't feel like doing anything now. I did vacuum and laundry. Yes Lynn the back yard is already needing mowing again.

Everyone have a super evening.

Nurse Panda and Erica- So Glad the procedure went well. Sending you loads of pixiedust: to help in a fast recovery time.

Jeanne: Bring your shirt to the Minnie, if I can't get a shirt from EYE2EYE I would love to buy it from you!!

I did some speed drills during my 4 mile walk this morning.
4.03 miles in 56:32.02 that was a avg pace of 14:03. During some of my speed sprints when I looked at my Gramin I was doing in the 10s, that was pretty cool!!

Hope all you walkers ( and Erica ) have a great Saturday!!!!:cool1:

Tracy,
I think Nancy is going to take my v-neck woman's shirt, but if not, I will bring it. Unfortunately we have an ADR for 5:30 so we won't be able to make the WISH meet, which has me very sad. If the meet were just a little earlier we might be able to stop by, but we need to rely on Disney transportation and you know how unreliable that can be. If Nancy doesn't want the shirt, maybe she can bring it to the meet.

Glad to hear that Erica's surgery was a success.

I have my own good news to be thankful for. My 23-yr. old daughter (the one who did the Goofy)was in a bad wreck last night, but thank God, she is fine. She was taken to the hospital where she was poked, prodded, scanned, you-name-it, and thankfully everything (with the exception of some airbag bruises) was OK! I'm not sure if the car is salvageable, but we are just so relieved she is alright. Plus, she's getting extra TLC from the Greek!

Jeanne--- So glad that Jenni is ok from her accident, that goodness for airbags. I'm sure the Greek will be taking very good care of her.

Tracy--- I do want Jeanne's shirt, but if you can't get one from Eye to Eye I could lend it to you. I doubt that I will be at the Minnie meet either as I have ADR for 6pm, but if you need a shirt can make some kind of arrangement to get it to you.

Glad that Erica is doing well after her surgery. Sending extra pixiedust: for a speedy recovery.

I did my LW 9.25 miles today. Great spring like weather. I did the route I used in Dec for my last LW 10 miler before the marathon. It was nice to not be so bundled up and enjoy the signs or spring instead of barren trees and mud.

Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend.

Nancy
