I have heard from a source on my forum that only 150 people have signed up that are eligible to get both medals. Disney is anticipating only around 300 medals will be given out. They will be very rare and a collectors item.

With this small number, don't expect Disney to do this again. If you are on the fence and waiting for next year getting the special medal, better sign up this year.

Robert, I think I read somewhere that the medals will be mailed, is that correct, we won't get them at DL? I would love to see what they look like.

Thanks for the update Connie. Wonder who gets the lucky job of waking the sleeping Panda.

Bill, the dentist as promised knocked me out from 10am yesterday morning till 7pm last night when I woke up. Eica popped a pain pill in my mouth and I went right back to sleep. I finally got up at 6 this morning feeling pretty good. No pain at all. I was a little queezy when I first got up but after a sports bottle of luke warm coffee I feel much better.

I have a friend that just went through this and she had prime rib this weekend for the first time in 6 weeks.

Healing Panda, Aren't pain pills great things! Glad you're feeling okay and hope you heal swiftly. You'll be out walking in no time. :)

Thank you SamSam.

Craig, yes the dentist beat the crap out of me. He charges less for the anistetic that way. Bat is cheaper than drugs.

I never had a bridge, crown or even very many cavities, the teeth were fine just the bone underneath.

Since I'm doing so well Erica went ahead and made the appointment to see he foot Dr for her bunion. We didn't want both of us laid up at the same time.

She has pain on long walks and after the Goofy she was sore in the bunion for over a month. She is strong and should do well also. I understand that bunion surgery will have you hobbling for about 6 weeks.

Good morning walkers.

Is everyone else as ready for spring as I am?

I so need the sun on me as I walk, this dark bleak winter makes it hard to stay motivated. The ground hog better get busy or we will have BBQed ground hog for Easter Dinner.

I am! I really want to start walking outside instead of at the gym on the TM. DBF and I walked a few weeks ago and my ears hurt after from the cold air.

I jokingly mentioned this to DH, complaining that I did the WDW half and DL half in 2006 and didn't get any special extra medal....I told him that since he just did the 2008 WDW half he should do DL too and at least someone in the family would have the bonus medal. I was kidding, really I was. Jim just called to say that he has taken that Friday and Tuesday off (Mon is the holiday) - just in case! :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: What the heck! He is supposed to be the sensible one. I was sensible too until I found WISH, satisfied with my yearly trip to WDW and the occassional visit to Vegas, with maybe a cruise thrown in once. Now I am ready to travel at the drop of a hat and the mention of a medal, but I never expected Jim to cross over to the dark side:lmao: :lmao: . Of course he wants me to go too!

Robert, are you sure the medal is going to be cool?

Hi Guys and Pretty Princesses.

We drove to Nashville today to find Erica's Doctor for the Bunion surgery. We don't have a good foot doctor here but there is one in Nashville with a good rep. She is still having pain from it ever since the Goofy challange. She has had trouble with it for a while but worse since then. So we are getting her fixed in time to train for the ToT and the January Marathon at WDW. Then if all goes well we will do the Goofy again in 2010.

Pat, that is cool that you are ready to travel anytime. Us to, all we need is money and vacation time and we are out of here.

WINDWALKER: I have sympathy for anyone who has pain in the foot. For a time I had pain in the main joint in my big toe on my right foot. When I walked at certain points my toe would actually get "stuck" and I had to put it back into position. I was diagnosed with degenerative osteoarthritis in the joint and it was pretty bad. The bone was out of shape and had bone spurs which would catch on each other when trying to move the toe around and it would get stuck and was very painful. I had to have a surgery similar to a bunionectomy called a chilectomy. I was not feeling very good the first two days afterwards, but then steadily got better. Key is elevation and ice!! I then had some physical therapy which helped alot!! That is when I started training for my first half marathon!! If your having both feet done at the same time, that might be slightly difficult and would need some help. Get some of that Mederma or something like that and apply it everday as soon as you can which will help to not scar as much.
(I also dealt with plantar faciitis in both feet which went on for about a year or so, ugh!)
Good luck!
Tracy

Thank you Tracy but it's not me who has the bunion problem it's Erica. I have a little problem with an achillies tendon but the feet are fine.

Well, I kinda meant that, but please pass it on to Erica. Thanks :-)

Ok I sure will.

She goes to see the foot Doctor next monday, we will know then what will happen, we expect surgery though, since that is the most common cure.

A question for all you experience racers. Never having been in an event before, I'm not sure how the timing works. I was checking out the times for the '08 1/2 Marathon and there's quite a descrepancy between chip time and clock time. For instance a chip time of 3:32 with a clock time of 4:02. Why the difference? Please help me understand.:confused3

The 1/2 marathon starts in waves. Some people start at 6:00, 6:10, and 6:30

The runner you saw started at 6:30 which is 30 minutes after the first runners started.

Well I have never entered an event yet but I think clock time is counted from when the first person crosses the starting line and Chip time is counted from when you cross the startinf line.

Today was my official return to training.

Startred with 4 miles on the tready alternating pace intervals between 15, 13:20 and 12 min per mile pace. Then a good stretching routine and calistetics. Finished up with a half mile of pool running.

The achillies felt good and the walking felt easy. The hard part is going to not push to hard to fast.

I have my first race on April 12th, last year the Ky state champion came down to kick my butt in this 5k. He beat me by 2 min. But it's a new year. He will probably kick my butt in this race to but by the end of the year I think it's time for a changing of the guard.

We will be meeting in the State Games in Sept.

Walk Strong y'all.

Windwalker: Sounds like a good walk and training today!!

My chip time was my official time, how long it actually took me from the start line to the fininsh line. The clock time is the time the race started. My wave was the last wave and started at 6:30am and I didn't cross the start line until 6:38am. Chip time is your OFFICIAL TIME and that is what counts! The sweepers go by the last person to cross the start line time!!! So if you are ahead of that you have a bit of a cushion - at least at the WDW Half and Full.

Will try to walk at the park after work, but it's raining right now outside while I'm at lunch at work.:sad1:
Tracy

Thanks so much, the difference in times is perfectly clear now. :) So much to learn!
