While at Disney last week, I began to wonder (what else is there to do riding on a bus)

On any given day, what percentage of individuals are on their first trip versus those who are on a returning visit?

Inquiring minds want to know?

I bet those people at the front of the parks who do surveys would know. :teeth: I would not even begin to hazard a guess.

I'm not sure, but I think the people that are stopped in the middle of the park all trying to read the map are newbies. Or at least not DISers, who know EVERYTHING before they get there.;)

How about the people walking up to the cm's at Cindy's saying "oh, you need reservations for this?"

I've wondered that myself.

And also at what time is it polite to answer questions heard on the bus. While we were there in September there was a couple who knew nothing about Downtown Disney. They were thinking of eating at House of Blues but didn't know where to get off and didn't know if they would like it.

I wanted so badly to but in and give them advice and tell them about other places but I didn't.

I am sure Disney knows those numbers very closely. I do think the larger number of visitors are one time visitors, or at least not frequent visitors. Now, among DIS folks, the definition of frequent is up for discussion, LOL. :)

I am going to call or eamil and see if they would tell me.

I butt in all the time. I will listen to the conversation a bit then suggest something or give brief advice if it seems at all helpful. Some Guests just stop me and ask questions, especially when I wear one of my DVC shirts. It looks like it has a CM tag on it. I also had a family follow me out of Epcot one night after Illuminations because they said "it looks like you know where you are going." A little helpful advice is often ok.

As for the Newbies VS Veterans to WDW - I would say it depends on when you go and where you go. At Epcot last week it seemed there were mostly veterans visiting the Food & Wine Festival. However, in other parks more Guests were wandering around aimlessly, park maps in hand.

I always enjoy listening to people who say "Oh, did you go on "Fast Track" yet?" or other such variations of well-known Disney attractions. I usually just say "yes", when I would much prefer to give them the DIS web address.;)

I am a "buttinski" too! I like to start conversations on the bus. I like that folks are so eager to talk to others on vacation! I share a LOT of information with folks! Of course, on the DVC buses, not many are newbies!

I think most people I talk to are newbies and I'm a huge buttinski! Especially when I was alone, I couldn't help but overhear what people were saying. When the couple behind me said The Tiki Room were bathrooms I practically dragged them in behind me.

I always end up talking to people and find that a lot of them are first time visitors.

I love being able to share advice that I have been given on the boards.

Ok maybe this is weird but I tend to look at their feet. I figure if they are wearing sandals or flip flops it must be their first time there. :p :p

I'll butt in if I think my suggestion will help someone have a better day. An example is showing someone how to use FP when they are standing there looking at the machines and scratching their head.

I guess I'd throw you for a loop, bumcat, because I've been there 12 times and I always wear sandals! I just love my comfy, broken in, leather sandals from LL Bean. They're all I wear at Disney World.

me too, I wear my tevas or burks, I wouldn't wear any other sandals or flip flops though

Hmm guess I'll have to rethink that one, LOL.
I cant wear sandals for long periods because I always get blisters on the back of my foot.

The worst was when, at 4 in the afternoon, the lady behind me asks me if my kids liked a certain ride. I said yes, but that it was a good idea to get a fast pass.

She asked "what's a fast pass" and then "do you have to pay extra for it".

I just about died. She had been there all day and still had NO idea what they were. They had only been on 3 other rides all day.
