Hello, all, I was into'ed to this board via my DW, and wanted to ask some questions as the time is getting close for us to leave. I grew up going to disneyland being I have mostly lived in San Diego my whole life. I have never stayed at the DH or any of them surrounding the park on the property, I have 3 young people going with me, and my youngest is 2 and it will be her first time. this is why we decided to stay at a property location. I just don't want to waste my time and money, we trully want this to be a MAGICAL time for her and the other 2 as well. I have heard horror stories like stolen property and mildew and musty smelling rooms and also small rooms, I don't want to spend this much money for a nightmare of an experience. I'd like some advice on the walk from the DH to the park, should we change to the PP and how do we go about asking for an upgrade and who to ask for it. I am getting stressed out on this as it is soo hard to decide on what to do for food and how much its going to cost I don't want to be a basket case when I get up there, I'd like to enjoy this trip instead of worring about what to choose, any help is appreciated!

I'd advise you read Hydroguy's tips linked at the top of this forum. Also, if you are a reader, you should purchase or check out a DLR Touring book. I just bought the Unofficial Guide to Disneyland 2009 and it is great! Lots of info on hotes, places to eat, ratings of each ride, and how to tour with little ones. It could be a bit overwhelming as it's packed full of info, but it will prepare you well for your trip.

ty kerickson, I may call tomorrow and see if there is a way to change our rooms to con. in PP as it's not too much more, and then we don't have to deal with finding breakfast and hopefully the rooms may be a bit better. I can't see how the DH is soo much more for con. service but it is a quite a difference. Thanks again, it's 6 days til we're there and I may be getting nervious, thanks for the help.

Concierge at DLH is more expensive as most of the rooms have a park view where you can watch the fireworks from your room. Also, they have food all throughout the day and not just in the morning. (PPH also has this, but not to the extent that the DLH does.) The DLH is also a more "conveniently located" hotel that the PP, but they are only steps away from each other.

The concierge will also make all your dining arrangements for you and help you plan your day. I believe that they can do other little things for you, as well. I know from staying at it in the GCH, they also loan you DVDs and such for the room.

There really isn't too much to stress about, but that won't completely sink in until after you get there and see it - you are too busy into the final stages of your trip.

Go, wind down, enjoy yourself. That is what DL is all about. :thumbsup2

I know how you feel, I always stress out about how much food costs, etc.. What I have discovered is that you have to be prepared for the higher cost of food at the park (ie. burger & coke $8-10 dollars) just an example, it's probably not that high. If you can split meals, that saves you money. Also, eat at some of the counter service restaurants (maybe splurge on a good character meal - like Goofy's kitchen).

You may be better off with PPH. The last time we stayed at the DLH, we got a really run down room (other times it has been fine). I know there is a big cost difference between onsite and offsite, but the feeling of staying where the magic is all around you is priceless!!!

Have a wonderful trip!!
