I read this article on another board and was wondering if anyone here has come accross the new unauthorized pins that have come out from China, either on Ebay or in the parks. Its kind of frustrating how difficult it is to find real Disney pins on lanyards and knowing that the counterfeit problem its only going to get worse.

Wow they are getting high tech! Ballsy for them to release design plans. I'm sure they could be traced to a factory or to the OG computer that they came from?

Wow girl!
I saw them..and...would you believe...
I have the lollipop mickey heads..right here in my hot little hands...
I have the 2 shown..and a blue/green colored one.
I got them from cm lanyards in the last week or so.
I too..had never seen them before and they are so cool looking..that they are in my collection.
They HAVE gotten good...
because there is no way on earth to tell that these are scrappers.
none.
The backs are right...they are smooth to the touch..and they do not have that rough scrapper feel...
the weight is right..and..the paint is perfect.
In fact..they are so perfect....
that either they are the worlds best scrappers...
or as usual at Disney..one hand..does not know what the other is doing half of the time.
in fact..these pins look better made than the ones i have bought.:rotfl::rotfl:
Now...I am intrigued..
but..the problem is..who the heck do you ask?
I am going to put these aside...and the next time i am at a Disney event where it seems...
there is a Disney employed pin expert...
I will ask about these.
thank you girl..for a very interesting new mission for me.:santa:

Apparantly the pins have already been brought to the attention of Steven Miller and Julie Young at the 10/10/10 event....although I dont think it could hurt to let them know how these pins are continuing to invade cast member lanyards in the parks. The next pin trading night is December 17th.

Yes..you are right.
But..you see...I have become jaded to the fact..that the bigger a company is..the less they become aware of large problems....
as..the hierarchy is too big...
so..unless word of something...gets to the one person that can make a difference...
nothing gets done.
I have seen this time and time again at Disney,Ebay[their problems are becoming legendary],
and a myriad of other large firms.
Even if there is a problem..that is costing them millions if not billions in their bottom line...
until it bites the one in charge in the butt...
nothing is done.
consider that...if the one person in charge.....
really wanted to stop most fakes...
it would take perhaps ONE well worded letter from their attorneys to the lawyers for Ebay,
which..as we well know...
is the main way that these fakes are sold wholesale worldwide...
so...if only one letter....
from a firm that has more lawyers than it has shareholders....:rotfl:
would force most of the copy cat companies in China to cease and desist...
as..they would have no other way top successfully market their wares..
if..
someone with some sort of power....
is aware..
why is it not done?:)
The answer is,
the word has not filtered to the desk..
of someone...that cares yet.

Im worried that Disney Pin Trading will meet a demise similar to that of VMK (Virtual Magic Kingdom). Disney just shutting down the program and encouraging fans to move on to something else, instead to them fixing the problem and making it better for the company and those who enjoy pin trading. I hope the word gets onto that desk soon!

;)that is the one thing..that I would not worry about.
If VMK had one tenth the revenue as the pins do...
they would still have it...
just remember....what the profits are on it for them...
and besides...
that would leave a wide open berth for Universals stalled pin trading schemes:rotfl2:
something..Disney would never allow to happen..
especially with the "Potter Problem"....
causing universal"s profits to soar past Disney"s this year. :rolleyes1
