New Twist on Luggage Transfers

To make a long story short, here's the part of the conversation I'm questioning:

Pamela (CM): "I see you're checking out of CBR and going to WL. Looks like you'll need a transfer. Talk to someone at the front desk at CBR and let them know. The morning you check out, there will be someone to drive you and your luggage over to WL."

Me: "I thought Disney only transfered luggage and that I'd have to find my own way of getting to WL."

Pamela (CM) Laughing: "Disney always transports people who have no other means of transportation! Do you have a rental car?"

Me: "No."

Pamela (CM): "Then the front desk will make sure there is someone to drive you and your luggage over to WL."

Someone help me! I've read many threads on the disboard stating that Disney transfers luggage, and you have to find your own way to your destination resort. (Cab, Disney's bus or monarail, etc.)

Thanks,

I also thought they only transported luggage and not people. I think the CM may have been wrong on that.

Yea, I'll just go with my original plan and get a taxi for us. At that point, I can just take my luggage with me!

Thanks,

Why don't you ask when you check in what the policy is. You have nothing to lose. Taxis are right outside the door in case you need one.

I had a bellhop from CBR drive me back to CSR when there were no taxis available. I didn't ask. He just offered because he said it would be a long wait to get one. He drove us back in a WDW van. I would ask at the front desk what the policy is. Might vary on how busy they are.

Do you HAVE to be with your luggage during the transfer now? I was thinking of taking my luggage to the front desk, going to a park at opening, and then returning to the new resort to meet my luggage. Can I still do this?

I am interested in this too, as it was my plan to say goodbye to my luggage, do early opening at a park, and then go directly to the new hotel around 2:00 for check in. I'm assuming the 3:00 check in rule still applies even if you are transferring from another resort. If not, tell me!!!!!!

I don't think there is a hard and fast rule about checking in these days. We have checked in as early as 6:30.

Your new room may not be ready but you can still check in. They will give you a card with a phone number so you can call and see if the room is ready.

Once you have that you can go off to the parks and not worry.

It's a gray line, and unfortunetly can vary resort to resort. Some resorts have luggage vans that do not have passenger seats, and for that reason, they may not be able to transport people. However, other resorts do have vans with seats. But the bottom line, no matter what, I think Disney will try to help the guest as best they can.

At Pop Century, we will transport your luggage to your new resort, just like everywhere else. Our vans do have seats, so our thought is that we're going there anyways, you welcome to tag along if you wish. The small catch is that you might have to wait a few minutes before we can do the run.

yes! when we were there last summer at CBR we, along with our luggage were driven over to the YC! The bellman was very nice! Have a great trip!
