BFN. Clomid was no big deal. I didn't notice anything other than some hot flashes on maybe the 4th night?

Who wants to start telling me about the drug differences between IUI and IVF? I'm really hoping to stick to the progesterone suppositories instead of injections. Any input on that?

I'm going to have to do the nurse education and saline ultrasound/mock transfer first, from what I understand. I hope the ultrasound isn't as painful as the HSG was. I definitely prefer getting this over with before the kids come back in the fall, so I'm glad we're going ahead now.

OH-and the doctor's office still hasn't gotten back to me with ANY test results. I am crazy frustrated!

:headache: on the BFN!

:woohoo: that you are moving forward with a new plan! :thumbsup2

This is the first month I am charting in like years. So far its day 14 and no O. Used to O exactly on 14. Also doing the O-tests but still nothing. Making me a bit worried that O hasn't been happening at all. :scared:

Hi all.

I've been lurking on this thread for a while, but never posted. Soooo here goes.....

DH (30) & I (29) officially began our TTC journey this month. I have a history of endo on one side (laproscopic surgery followed by 6 months of lupron in 2002) and also had a leep procedure in 2003 due to some abnormal cells. I've been on the pill continuously without periods since 2002 and stopped them a few months ago. I definitely O'd this month on day 14, confirmed by an OPK, and am now awaiting AF which should arrive by this Saturday. I have been showing some pregnancy symptoms (chest tenderness, some nausea, lower abdominal cramping that isn't consisted with my monthly cramping), but am pretty sure it's all in my head. While I'm hopeful that we won't have issues, I'm also realistic that my history isn't the best.

This thread seems like a great resource and I wish all of you the best of luck and BFP's in the near future! :flower3:

Aw, Courtney, sorry about the BFN. I always still hope for a BFP before moving on to the next step. I can't believe you haven't heard from your office re test results! I would be very frustrated, too!

D&D, if you haven't charted in years, it's possible that your cycle has changed. I O later, usually around CD 17ish.

Have any of you seen UP yet? We went yesterday with DS and our niece and nephew. Just wondering if any of you started crying at the same scene that I did, and I'm usually no a movie/tv crier.

What a day...

So I called today to see what the next step was. Shockingly, they called me back. I need to set up a saline ultrasound, nurse's education, and ANOTHER consultation. They left bloodwork orders at the desk for DH to pick up. I have to start BCP on day 3 (which is either Wed or Thurs-need opinions here-full flow was late this afternoon-today as day 1 or tomorrow?).

The bloodwork. Glucose was fine, and I did ovulate. My ovarian reserves (or whatever it is they test)-horrible. 0.4. She said it didn't make any sense with my age and the fact that I've had such good response to meds. I FREAKED most of the day. I'm getting retested. If it stays that low, I can't do shared risk anymore. I just can't even imagine this. I don't know what to do or what to think.

skuttle-I hated UP because I cried the whole time. That first part got me started, and I'd cry on and off the rest of the time because of it.

The only minorly happy news is that we traded in 2 cars for a better car. We had kept our old car when we bought one a year and a half ago, so we had a spare. We'll be saving on the insurance, but paying more, of course. DH is thrilled though, so it's worth it. I'm going to cry my eyes out again tomorrow handing over the first car that was REALLY mine (over 9 years with it). It took me to the prom, college, drove us off on our wedding day, and took us on our honeymoon. BUT-the new car looks like it'll be really nice, and it has all the power that DH wants.

So...any opinions on when day 1 is?

Hi Aurora. Sorry for the BFN, I know it doesn't get any easier.

I always count before 4pm as that day, after 4pm as the following day.

Congratulations on the new car, although I know it was hard to give up the old car with all the good memories attached to it.

I'm not familiar with the test they did for your ovarian reserves. You have posted good numbers with your medication, so that sounds like there are plenty of good follicles to stimulate. That test result doesn't sound right and I think it is good they are retesting. I don't think that it is right to not allow you to do the shared risk based on that.

I know that I have diminished ovarian reserve based on my piddly antral follicle count, but that's from my ultrasounds, not a blood test. My doctor has said okay to two more months of monitored cycles, than we need to move on to the next step. He would have already let us progress if I wanted it but I am giving us one year first. Who knows, maybe I am just wasting two more months, but I am at peace with trying for one calendar year first. On the other hand, I may have been better off taking out the big guns sooner, but you can't go back in time.

Welcome cc, I hope your stay here is a short one!

As always, baby dust to everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Aurora - I'm with Chloe on this one. Any time after 4 go to the next day. I soooo wish you good luck on this. I remember well the days I was were you are now (somewhat different places, but the pain is still the same)

Chloe - Don't look at it as wasting 2 more months. Listen to your body on this one and go forward with confidence. I too so badly want things to just happen naturally. :guilty: Whenever you "take out the bigs guns" or not will work for the best.

Day 16 and I cant tell if the 2 OPK lines are the same or slightly different. Temp hasnt' gone up yet nor has it taken its usual dip.
:headache:

UGH, I am still SO FRUSTRATED with my RE office! Location wise, I can't really change, and I like my doctors...but GEEZ...

Like I said, talked to a nurse Monday, and got directions for how to proceed. I called back with my pharmacy info, and assumed the prescription would be called in, as she told me. I waited to go until tonight, in case I called too late in the day. NOT THERE! This, following my lack of return phone calls on my blood tests has left me less than thrilled. THEN-the lady had transferred me to the front desk to schedule my saline sonogram and nurse's education class. It went immediately to voicemail. I left one, knowing it was kind of stupid. You have to talk to schedule an appointment! So...they called back, but of course I was involved in something at work and couldn't answer. Lately, when you call to make an appointment, it might ring once, then goes to voicemail. I wish there was at least an OPTION of waiting until someone was available.

I called tonight when we left Target (my pharmacy). I left a message (said "um" a lot, because I'm not good at expressing anger/frustration when I want to stay polite) and explained that I didn't know what was going on, and what did I need to do about my prescription, because I needed to get started. I also explained that I had been recently frustrated by a lack of response to phone calls about test results and difficulty scheduling an appointment. Am I out of line?

Courtney, you are not out of line at all. You have every right to be angry! TTC is hard enough when all of our medical procedures and appointments go as planned. For your office to be like this is just too much! I would definitely try to talk to someone. Maybe you need to go to the office to complain in person if no one will call you back. It's just not acceptable the way they have been handling things!

That first part of UP had me crying off and on for a while, too. I felt so silly!

D&D..don't ya hate those OPKs!! I have to do them this cycle with the IUI, but I also bought the digital kind for when I start getting darker lines so that I can know for sure. Those lines drive me crazy! I wish they could be like HPT...any line is a yes!

I've never heard of diminished ovarian reserve. I'll have to google that one.

Aurora, you are not out of line at all. They are slipping with their responsibilities, and it is not out of line to call them on it. The nurses at my RE's office also do not routinely call with the test results. :confused3 They will call to tell you about your medications, but not just about test results. However, I have let it be known that I want to be called with mine. :rolleyes1 I like to know the numbers. Also, the nurses are almost never at their desks except when it is call back time, so the calls almost always go to voicemail. Someone does always call me back that day though, usually within an hour or two.

D&D, thanks. :goodvibes

Skuttle, I don't know if you want to google that, it's just more depressing information to find out about. :sad2:

I'm hoping for some news of BFP's here this summer!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm a little confused about the ovarian reserve testing info I see online. It looks like it should happen on a certain cycle day, and mine didn't. It's not supposed to be on any certain day again this time. I don't get it.

Now that I see this list of tests, I'm not entirely sure they ordered it. Here is my list of ordered blood tests: Antimullerian Hormone, Antibody Screen, Blood Type with Rh Factor, Rubella, HIV 1, HIV 2, RPR (Syphilis), Hepatitis B Core Antibody, Hepatitis B Surface Antigen, Hepatitis C Virus, and Cystic Fibrosis. None of those sound like the test I had before, but maybe I just don't know the abbreviation or name?? Any ideas?

DH's list is mostly the same, but a few less, obviously. Ugh, I hope I don't have to stinking call again to get another test ordered.

See, that's my problem. I'm not sure what it was. I know I got a 0.4, and I should have gotten more in the neighborhood of 5. Maybe an FSH? Ugh stupid non-giving-me-results doctor's office!

Courtney, If I were you, I would demand an appt to talk to the RE about each test and what they are for. It sounds like no one is giving you that info, and I think you need that info. I would also sit down and go over what tests were done previously and your results, if you haven't done that yet. IVF is a big step, and I would want to know every detail about every step taken. Even the smallest blood test, I would want to know why it's done.

Here's a link talking about FSH and ovarian reserve. Looks like anything under 9 is good according to the chart. http://www.advancedfertility.com/day3fsh.htm
I'd also Google blood work in relation to IVF to get yourself some more answers. I hope you get some answers either way.

Ok, that link helped. It sounds like the AMH one might be what I had done. The numbers make sense with what she was saying. That was ordered, so I guess I'm good. Now I just need to figure out when I can get in there. I may try to run through in the morning and be a few minutes late to the office. I can be there when they open at 7:30, then maybe be to work by 8:30. Since it takes 10 days to get results, I definitely want to get on it!

Hi, I went through a similar situation with endo and similar treatment (did a 2nd course of lupron a few years later).

Can I ask, did you talk to your OB/Gyn before you went off the pill? The reason I ask, is that I had a NP who was an endo specialist, and she told me she recommends starting TTC immediately after stopping the pill for a couple of reasons.

1. The pill controls your endo to some degree, especially if you have been taking it non-stop w/no periods (I do Seasonale).
2. When you first go off the pill, your body often ovulates twice, which doubles your chances of getting preggo on that first month.

The good news for me at least, was that we did conceive on the first month TTC, which really shocked me based on my history. DH claims it is due to the superiority of his "men" to overcome my problems.

Good luck to you (and all of you) and feel free to PM me if you have any questions. :goodvibes

Hi!

I did talk with my doctor at length about going off the pill and TTC. She is the same doctor who performed both my laproscopic surgery for endo and the leep. She preferred that I remain off the pill for a month or two just until my cycle re-regulated itself before TTC. Because my endo was on one side ("cleaned up" via the lapro as my she mentioned) and I haven't had any cramping or other symptoms since beginning the Lupron/pill treatment in 2002, she didn't see a few months before trying as an issue. We waiting until I had two complete cycles before TTC. She did recommend that if we were not TTC, that I remain on the pill.

I took Lybrel continuously for the last two years. Apparently that pill is especially for people who take it continuously (no placebos). Before that I took Estrostep.

Did you have syptoms that caused you to complete a second round of the Lupron? I felt terrible taking that drug. I actually passed out in the office as I was getting my last injection. And, well, you know where those injections are given..... Passing out in the middle of one is definitely embarassing!

Congrats on getting pregnant so soon. That's great! :goodvibes
I pray that we'll be so lucky. So far still no AF, but I'm only at day 25 and she usually arrives between day 25 and 27.

It's interesting that different docs had different philosophies on treatment. I was having symptoms that felt similar to the first time I had endo about 4 years after the lapro. I had switched gyne's twice since the one who found and removed the endo, b/c when I first felt it coming back, he wanted to go back in and do surgery again, and I didn't really want that. So I found another gyne, but only saw him once before he retired. Then I found the third practice, which I really loved because all of the docs were women's health specialists, and I liked all but one of them.

The last doc recommended trying a 2nd course of lupron to see if that helped with the pains. Luckily it did or we would have had no choice but to go back in for lapro. And yes, I do remember where you get those shots, so it would be very embarrassing to pass out. :scared: I only got that feeling once, after the last shot from the first cycle, but luckily after the shot was over. The second cycle they just gave me 2 shots that lasted 3 months each, so that was a little better.

I hope AF doesn't show for you. I think I got my first bfp on day 27, and AF would have usually arrived on day 28. It was so faint I had to run out and get a digital to confirm. Good luck to you!

Good luck cc1013. Been through the Lupron and Endo treatments too. Ughh!!!

Okay...I have a question. Can you get a LH surge for 3 days???? The OPK have shown what I believe is pos for 3 days now. Never had that before. And temps are staying constant. Very wierd.
