I was at the outlets yesturday and noticed they have a new store called Toys R Us Express. I asked how long they have been open and she said just a few months. This is a trial for them to see how they go. I am sorry I cant tell you how prices compare as I dont have small children to shop for. I dont know how far they are extending these stores. Just thought I would let people know. So if you one go check it out. Jo

there is one our a local mall that is an old kb toy store spot. weird thing is...not far from the location, in same parking lot is a toysrus. so they have the small "express" in mall by same entrance that regular store is outside of.

We had one of these open here in NH a few weeks ago. I haven't stopped in yet. I figure it might be too dangerous!:rotfl:

We have a couple of them in Central Ohio too. I think they are going to be open just through the holidays.

I just read about these in the newspaper. I really wish they would bring them to areas that aren't already served by a regular toy store. Our closest toy store is about 4 hours away in any direction. I would love if we would get one in a mall closer by!

We have a couple of those nearby. They are not great to be honest. I've found they don't participate in the regular TRU promos, and the merchandise is older and the deals aren't that great.

We have one that has been open a couple of months. I have went a couple of times because ours does run the same promotions as the regular Toy r us. They did say that they might not have all the same items but everything I have went for that was in the ad was there.

We have one at our outlet mall and they just opened one in the regular mall. Neither had very good deals IMO. I didn't see much there and the prices were really no different than the regular store.

Well I guess the budget board has kept me in my place, as some of you say there are a few out there. I have not been shopping for a long time, outside of grocery shopping. YEA! for the budget board. I have saved alot of money. But I am out of touch with stores.:lmao:

Not a great deal.. We stumbled into one this past weekend.

I went to one in Cincinnati on Sunday. I was all hyped, so many of the other stores in the outlet mall were great. This one.....wasn't. It was tiny and it didn't have much stock that I saw. Also, prices were no lower than a regular TRU (which to me is the POINT of an outlet?!) Anyway, if, as another poster said, it is only a through Christmas thing that might explain the small space and the sparse stock. If they are actually planning to run it that way 365 days a year then I wouldn't bother. I didn't really understand it's purpose as there was a TRU on every corner we passed :confused3 so it's not like it's an area that wouldn't have a TRU.

TRU is opening these just for the holiday season. They are renting temporary space (sometimes cheap!) in malls to boost holiday sales. One opened near me--it was packed to the rafters with toys, but they didn't have much for movies or video games. (I went in for the Beauty and the Beast deal, hoping to save myself a 30 minute trip, with no luck.) I doubt I'll go back.

One opened nearby and when I stopped in, the man told me the Express stores are just opening for the holidays. They are NOT outlet stores, and pricing/promos etc. will be the same as the regular TRU stores. They are generally much smaller, so won't have all the same merchandise.

Seems like a good marketing strategy on their part. If they can get a rental space cheaply, I think they will get a lot of walk-in traffic closer to the holidays and more than make up for any costs. Ours is next to the Christmas Tree Shop and you know how crazy that place gets!

This happened in my town too. I live in a semi-large city with more than 100K people. We have two major malls and a million smaller shopping centers. The two malls are on opposite sides of town. The Toys R Us is right across the street from one mall. A Toy's R Us express opened inside the mall that's across the street from the big Toys R Us. I don't know why it didn't go to THE OTHER mall?

One opened near us about a month ago. It's not a place I plan to do all my holiday shopping, but it was perfect for a last minute birthday party gift. Prices were a little better than the main store 30 minutes away. They must be doing okay because the people at the bagel place that share a parking lot were complaining about the traffic.

I recently found one in our mall that used to be a KB Toys store. As most have replied this mall is also directly across the street from a regular TRU store. I went it to check it out but was very dissapointed. The prices were high and the stock was very undesirable. There was barely any brand name or normal toys most were some off brand and not even the TRUs store brand. As far as participating in the TRU promotions/sales I don't see that happening as they hardly had any TRU merchandise that would ever go on sale. It was not the quality or brands that I expected to get at TRU.

Although I think they will do pretty well for the holiday season in that location. They can target the customers that need the toys for the random kids on their holiday lists but won't go into the "real" TRU and are already at the mall. I just won't be one of the customers, I'll stick to the real one!

They dropped an Express into our local mall where the KB had gone out. Speculation is this is going to be a seasonal add. I was in a week or so ago, wasn't overly impressed by the selection or the pricing. That said, the closest free standing TRU is quite a bit futher, so we'll see how it plays out, I suppose.

Not all of the are holiday-only. Some are permanent. Last year when they opened them, about one-third of the stores did so well that they never closed.

There is one in our outlet mall. We went in a few weeks back. Regular prices, regular TRU ad was valid but no signs anywhere stating that. It was the week the legos games were buy 2 get 1 and video games were buy 1 get 1 40% off. So I looked at the legos, crappy selection and overpriced. My son got a game (he was with his Grandpa) and they did tell us at checkout to buy another and it would be 40% off. I didn't think they were because there were no signs or advertising anywhere.

We have one in out mall that has been there about a year, We have a regular TRU in the same mall. My mother has been on the main one for 20 years now.

Its a lot of older merchandise and not the selection like you would find in the traditional TRU store. The sales are also not the same.
