What is this that I'm hearing about a new toy store in Downtown Disney? Has anyone been there? Do they accept the DC discount? Does anyone have the phone number to order from WDW stores (or can I just call the too free ones)?

we were there in august and I just really wasn't very impressed with the new toy store (now I was also grumpy because I couldn't find any christmas ornaments I don't already have and there was no scrapbook stuff to be seen, well, none that I wanted). They have a giant mr. potato head right as you walk in and you basically can create your own potato head (for $12 I think), kind of cool. they also had the whole train system with all the attractions (haunted mansion, epcot ball, castle) set up, make your own tinker toy set, lincoln log set, etc. I just wasn't thrilled with it. I like the disney store better. :D maggie

I didn't think it was much different from any other toy store..except we did have fun getting some Disney parts for our Mr Potato Head (wizard hat, mickey ice cream cone, shoes, teacup, mickey balloon, autograph book, and special arms to hold the stuff, among other pieces)..it was $12 for a box full..and you had to be very creative (pack inside the body too) and a great packer to get a lot of the parts inside the box..which has to be able to fold. For $18 you can buy most of the set in a nice box. We bought two boxes worth. They also have tinker toys, $12 a box, and Lincoln logs, same price. You could buy a set of logs to make a Wilderness lodge (but it appeared to only make the WL). I don't remember the price, but I do remember it being expensive.
Other than those items, I didn't remember seeing anything I couldn't get elsewhere. They did not take my DC so we went next door to the larger store.to buy the toys we needed.

I haven't been yet but have been keeping notes on the items available there and there are quite a few WDW items exclusive to that store.

From my list:
Mr Potato Head - all ready described
Candyland (themed as Fantasyland?)
Theme Park Monopoly (where you buy rides not movies)
apparently also extra tokens available for purchase
It's A Smal World play dough set
Wilderness Lodge tinker toy set
Clue (with a Haunted Mansion theme)

Other items displayed well there but available elsewhere are all the monorail/train items and their accessories.

I am really looking forward to going to the store for the exclusive items.

Are these things ONLY available at this store? Or are they at other stores around the parks?

The items I mentioned are only available at the Toy Store in Downtown Disney. There are exclusive to the Toy Store.

The monorail/train/accessories are available throughout the parks and in the resorts.

This is probably crazy, but how are the prices? Is it comparable to a Toys R Us, or more expensive?
