I am new to Forum and I thought I would introduce myself and ask for advice. I have always struggled with my weight. But at the age of 16 I started becoming so active in school and later outdoors that I could eat anything and I always stayed trim. After I had DD12 I dropped back down to almost my prebaby weight. Then after 2 more kids I had gained and kept on about 40 pounds. About 2 years ago I decided to do something about it. I lost 25 pounds. After I went off my diet I didn't gain back too much weight...about 5 pounds. Anyway...long story short...I am trying to lose another 20 pounds. This 20 pounds is the hardest I have ever tried to lose. I have never needed to follow a plan before because I would just cut out the bad and I lost weight.

Well I am following a plan and I am losing weight but there is a problem. I do not think I am getting enough calories....pretty funny saying that..coming from me. I am hungry all the time. I am actually getting headaches and getting lightheaded. Before the first few days...maybe a week...of my diet was rough then it way ok. This is more than wanting to eat I feel physically sick. How many calories should one consume just to lose about a pound a week?

Welcome to the WISH forums! :goodvibes

It sounds like you have come a long way on your journey to good health and have built some good habits, especially the activity.

You can eat too few calories and cause your body not to lose weight. Check out a few of the threads on here and see if you find a group that you like. As for calories, try www.sparkpeople.com -- it is a free site, they have lots of good info and don't seem to flood your inbox with a bunch of junk. Quite a few people on the WISH boards are on Weight Watchers. I've also read that Jillian Michaels program Making the Cut is for people who are looking to lose the last 20 pounds.

This is a great group of folks and you are sure to find lots of good info here. I would think about a visit to my doctor, too, just to get checked out in case something else is going on.

Good luck! You can do this! :cheer2:

Thank you. I am going to check out spark people it looks like it will help a lot.

Be sure and check out what sparkpeople has for proposed menus for you. They do a really good job, I think, of maximizing your calories. They give me way more food that I would if I was doing the planning. You definitely can't be starving all the time -- it is a bad feeling and not a way of life that you can live with for any amount of time. Good luck!

Welcome to WISH!

You could be telling my story. I just want to say the advice you've been given is great advice. Please do join in anywhere here. The folks on the threads are really welcoming.

You definitely don't want to use that "D" word. Think of it as healthy lifestyle choices. Best WISHes on your journey. Stay with us and let us know how it's working.

goofy- looks like you have already gotten the advice I would have given-- please keep us posted
