New to VMK and some questions

I started playing VMK about a week ago. Originally I signed up to see if it was something my dd would like to play but found out she's way too young yet. She enjoys changing outfits and playing the music but can't really do the games. I'm really having fun myself and am finding myself hooked.

I have just a few questions. I'm wondering how long are things for sale in the shops? I see there are specials and I wonder how long those things are there. I'm also wondering about the other items like pins etc. How long before they put out new ones or are these always available? I'm trying to decide do I need to try and buy up everything or should I try and save up credits? I know I've read people are saving up for Halloween and I definitely want a neat costume. I'd love a princess costume or crown. Will these be back at Halloween time?

I have a question about the fireworks game. I keep reaching about 234,000 but can't break that mark. Any hints or tips to get those extra 6000 points to reach 240,000?

Also wondering what is the best way to get the most credits? So far I'm guessing it's fireworks. Anywhere else to get decent credits? I'm terrible at the other games.

Varying amounts of time. Things like the Room Dividers in the Emporium have been there forever, while certain pins only last a weekend or so (the Tron Reccognizer Pin in the Emporium, under Specials, was just last weekend.)

Pins are there to stay if they're under the Pins section in a shop. If they're under Specials, though, they aren't going to be there long.

I'm trying to decide do I need to try and buy up everything or should I try and save up credits? I'd love a princess costume or crown. Will these be back at Halloween time?

Sometimes, they're back at holidays. Other times you'll need to trade other players for them, especailly if they're rare, because the rarer they are, the less likely they'll be back out. Saving credits is always good, because you never know when Yavn and the VMK staff will surprise us with something new and cool (and totally expensive!).

You'll need to hit the fireworks just as they turn to stars up in the sky for extra points. Also, if there's more than 1 firework in the sky, detonate them all instead of one just at the perfect time. Still try to get them at good times, tho.

You could try to sell your items. They don't give much back, but they do give credits. Find the NPP's every day for 20 credits from each. Play a music mix once every hour for 20 credits. Attempt to play other games, these are the ones that give you the most credits:
Fireworks (up to 1,375 credits)
The new Pirates game (up to about 500 credits if you destroy a lot of opponents)
The Haunted Mansion game (again, up to 500 credits if you're good)
The Tomorrowland Hub games (gives you great items, like Tron stuff.)
Also, play Quests (by clicking the little Q in your VMK bar) because they give you cool stuff.
If you're "terrible" at games, read the instructions and see if you understand it. If not, go back to the old fashioned way: press everything until something happens

I don't really have anything to add because that last post just about covered it, but sheesh! You've only been playing a week and you already have that kind of fireworks score? I've been playing for over a month and I was just able to hit that last week or so!

Each week a new pin is released that is within the theme for the month. (This month's theme is Tron.) A new "theme" weekly pin is released every Friday in the Emporium under Specials for 500 credits. It is then gone Monday morninng.

Many players by multiples of these pins for future trading with other players.

Also, the host games (not quests, games) have an exclusive host pin that is given as the prize for the month. These take some work and luck to win, but are great for trading as well. They cannot be bought.

I think your other questions have been answered. Oh, yeah, 1 other tip: If you find a few of us (DIS members) in the game and get added to friends lists, you will usually find a room full of us. We tend to hang out together.

Two last notes: First, don't be shy to post questions here. I have found some of the most incredible friends on these boards - something I NEVER thought would happen when I signed on to a message board.

Second, your life as you once knew it - is over. hahaha! VMK can become an addiction like you never ever would have imagined! But it's one filled with good times, great laughs, and fun memories if you do it right! Welcome to the club! Thanks again all for your help. It was nice to watch the videos. It did help some. Now I'm up to around 237,000 so hopefully over time I'll make it.

I think most all your questions were answered. But I wanted to chime in and welcome you to VMK and Dis! I've been playing VMK since April and have been addicted since. Also, congrats on 237k in Fireworks. It took me months of play to get there. But fear not, once you get it it's like falling off a log. I get >240k everytime I don't dc (ok, twice out of hundreds of games in the last month I missed it). BTW, if you're playing Fireworks games one after the other, make sure to log off/on between each game. This reduces your chances of dc. And yes, if you can pass the 240k threshold, Fireworks is the best way to make cash.

One of the people up there mentioned getting music credits each hour. You can actually play your tune every 15 minutes for credits (despite what the in-game message reads). You can remix your music every 3hrs (not once a day) and get your Daily NPC credits every 12 hours (not daily).

As for how long things stay on sale we never know. It's likely things listed under Furniture, Posters, Pins, and Clothing will stay for a while, while Specials may go after any given weekend. But we don't know for sure. I was on for months when one day all the Tiki stuff at Ned's shop Furniture went away and we had all new Furniture items. And it was mid-week (Tuesday?), not a Monday or Friday! Without warning you could no longer buy Tiki. So if there's something you like, grab it because you don't know when VMK will make changes.

Some of the old costumes will return. We plebs have no idea which ones or when (many rumors are out on that topic), but Yavn Himself has said certain costumes will return and new costumes will arrive. The most likely thought is that costumes will return for Halloween. I wasn't here, but I understand that's when most costumes were initially released.
