If my logic is correct, we can save $238 dollars just buying discounted gift cards at Sams Club. I think this is how it works?

1. Balance of trip is $3667.82
2. Buy 24 $150 Disney Gift cards at @$3600 (142.98 for pack of 3 $50 cards)
3. Combine all cards to single card at disneygiftcard.com
4. Pay off balance of trip with the 1 combined gift card and save $238

Am I missing anything? Will I be able to buy 24 gift cards at one time (assuming they have that many).

Thanks!!

You can only combine gift cards up to $1,000, so you'll end up with 4 gift cards to use when you make your payment.

I think your math is off, but essentially, yes, you'll save just buying the gift cards. (I think you are adding the $60 that you have to spend in cash for the rest of the balance to your savings.) From my calculations, you'll save $168.48.

Through Sams Club, you'll save 4.68%. Or, at Target, you can save 5%with the RedCard discount, but your Sams Club might get you credit card rewards.

You will make out better if you buy the $500 Disney cards for $474.98.

Wait, maybe not. My brain doesn't want to do math right now LOL

@supersnoop is correct about maximum amount that you can combine on on Disney on the disneygiftcard .com website. In addition, I would add that any merchant is within their rights to limit quantities, so YMMV with buying 24 packs at one time.

And lastly, it's a pack of 3*$50 Disney GCs for $142.98, not 3*$150 GCs for that price (but I think you knew that and it's just a typo - I'm just putting it out there for anyone thinking that there's a 2GTBT sale on Disney GCs at Sam's.

Yep, that was a typo! I edited it :)

Our trip isn't until the end of the year, so I can try chunks at a time. Thanks!

you honestly don't even need to combine them before paying on your trip. You can just add a gift card payment whenever you want. Kinda 6 of one or half a dozen the other way as they say.

The benefit to combining is if for some reason you have to cancel the trip. Disney will refund to the methods you used to pay. I'd rather have three gift cards credited than 30.

True but then you could just combine after the return. I'd never trust Disney enough to throw away the gift cards until after they were completely used if I did combine them.

And wouldn't you be able to get another $60 if you put all those gift cards in a disney vacation account??

Yes as long as one plans ahead and opens the DVA at least 4 months before their final payment is due-the account has to be open for 120 days prior to spending to earn any bonuses.

AND if you have a Chase Freedom Visa you can get 5% cash back (up to $1500 purchases) at Sam's through the end of June. That's $75 plus anything over $1500 gets 1%. I am doing that for our November trip.

How many $500 Disney Gift cards will Sam's Club allow me to buy in store? Their website will only allow you to order 3 per member. Is that per order or 3 only?

Should I stay away from the DVA? Most of the post sound like it's a nightmare. Any good stories?

I have been Buying mine at SAMs and have bought 4 packs at a time with no issue. I also have combined them onto 1 card at 1,0000, go and make a payment and then go back to the gift card site and add more to the same card. I was at a different SAMs a few weeks ago and they had $500 gift card for $475.

We've used the DVA several times without an issue. From what I've read the issue usually comes when a refund occurs. (Which we've never had to do.)

Ordering from Sams.com is nice because you don't have to go to the Club to see what they have in stock. I ordered 11 packages of 3-$150 cards for my May trip and plan to order that way again. It was very easy and nice.

Our Sam's accepts credit cards, but I think only MasterCard. They used to only accept Discover and then it switched.

Our Sams now accepts American Express. Yahoooooo! We used to go get Walmart gift cards with our Hilton Honors AE to buy our Disney giftcards at Sams. Now we just use our AE card to get them. Cut out the middle man-Walmart. We bought 4 giftcards for $500 each at one time. We have never had them to limit how much we buy. Last summer we probably bought $3000 at one time.

I was able to order 5 $500 cards from Sam's, just broke it into two transactions. No issues whatsoever, and I then loaded those 5 into the DVA to pay for the cruise. We saved approx $125 doing this (or rather have $125 now set up in our on board account ready to go!)
