New to US/IOA & new AP

Hello all- I got an AP to take advantage of the room rate at RPH. I got the AP in the mail and the info says I activate it the first time through the turnstile when my fingerprint is scanned. I need to buy tickets for my DH and 2 boys. The AP "hotline" folks tell me I have to go through the turnstile to activate, exit the park and then buy the other tickets.

Anyone have any different experience or suggestions? That seems a little crazy to me. THe AP I have has my name on it.

I don't want to get to the park on early entry and be ready to go only to go in and then out!

That's the only way to activate your AP. Unfortunately, that's what you will have to do. Maybe try going the day before (even if late) and just activate it perhaps?

Yep, the AP is not activated until scanned. Only afterwards can you purchase other tix using the discount.
