I have just bought a Cannon A540 as my FIRST digital camera. Of course, I bought it for a Disney trip. :thumbsup2 I need any and all advice on what brand, type, etc of memory card to buy. I pretty much understand about the size, buy other than that I am clueless! TIA

Your camera needs Secure Digital Card or SD. With the 6MP that the camera offers, I'd recommend a couple of 2GB cards unless you shoot on one of the lower resolutions settings. Even then a couple of 1GB cards would be my minimum unless you have a laptop to download the pictures to when the card is full. Scan Disk is one of the major manufactors of cards and do a good job. The faster the write speed of the card the faster your image will store (within the cameras write capacity) which is a good thing. Look for a 60x write speed or faster.

CostCo has some cards at very reasonable prices.

When are you going to Disney? Circuit City has 1 Gig SD cards on Blackfriday for $2.99. http://blackfriday.gottadeal.com/black-friday-2071-Sandisk1GBSDMemoryCard.html

Wow, that's cheap for SanDisk!! I can't read the small print but I'm assuming a rebate will be involved. I have more than enough SD cards (I'm always having to force myself to pass on the good deals I see online) but this is too cheap to pass up. I'll have to remember about this deal since I'll be one of those crazy shoppers out on black Friday.
