Hi Canadian friends!
So I think I'm working opposite of most of you on this board. We have done Disney to death and are now very much looking forward to our first trip to Canada this summer!

I realized that this is the first time in a very, very long time that we are travelling to a region that I am entirely and completely unfamiliar with. I know I'm going to have tons of questions, so my first question is....is this a good place to ask them? Looks like most of the threads here are regarding Canadians going to Disney. Can you spare a few answers for visitors coming into Canada?

Our trip includes a few days in Montreal, few days in Gananoque, ON (for 1,000 Islands), one day in Niagara Falls, then back to the US for a stop at Cedar Point in Ohio. Can't wait!

What is your June weather like in this region? We are used to visiting Florida in June and the boys (teenagers) are nervous that they won't be able to swim. I said I think it's similar to Pennsylvania weather, am I wrong?

Anyway, just wanted to say hello!

As most of us have gotten great advice on this forum we would be happy to answer some questions about our area of Canada.

I live between Toronto and Niagara Falls and we always open our pool on May 24th weekend and swim throughout June. We heat the pool to 82 and have no problem with the air being too cold to swim. If you are swimming at Beaches in the 1000 Islands the water would probably still be pretty cool in June.

:welcome: to the Canadian Board!

We get lots of questions from other Canadians who are traveling in Canada, so you're sure to get a lot of good advice here.

We live in Nova Scotia, where the winters and summers are more like Boston weather. But we have traveled through Quebec and Ontario many times in June. We find it pretty hot, so excellent swimming weather.

We actually just stayed in Niagara Falls last summer -- loooved it!

First, thanks for spending your vacation with us in Canada.

I'm curious about your plan for spending 3 days in Gananoque? The 1,000 islands boat trip takes an afternoon at most. Kingston is nearby and is a nice little city with an interesting downtown on the waterfront. Unless you're renting a cottage to chill, I'd want to devote more time to the Niagara Falls portion of your trip.

As for swimming, the lakes will be chilly. Best find a hotel with an indoor pool for comfortable temps.

Have fun!

Your kids will likely swim but you may not. Our family always opened our cottage on the May 24th weekend and my brother and I would always go for a swim. Now when I go to the cottage you won't catch me in the water before July.
