Hi everyone. I'm new to the WISH board and I guess I am looking for some guidence.

1. With all the trends out there, how do you choose?

2. I've seen reference to FIRM. What's this? I may be interested in this one.

3. This one is a little more far fetched, but has anyone tried Slim90 or DreamShape? Did you have good results?

I would love to lose 30 lbs but I would be happy with 20. That would at least put me at my pre-pregnancy weight before my first child. It seems that after my first child I kept on 10 lbs and after the second another 10.

I have also gone from a size 8 to a size 12 or 14 - depending on the style. Again, I would be happy in a size 10.

I have recently joined a gym by work - but I can only go at lunch time. I'm trying to get myself into a workout schedule that'll work well for me.

Anyhow, if anyone can answer any of the questions above, I'd much appreciate it!

first off let me say Welcome to WISH!!

I'm very proud of your decision to start a heathier lifetsyle. I think for me after trying numerous eating plans, I found one that worked for me for the long haul. Try reading some of the WISH journals to get a feel for the different eating plans and then jump right in and try one. If it's not one you are totally satisified with, meaning you don't feel deprived or like it's too strict, then try another. Changing plans happens here and isn't a sign of failure, just adjustment

Start small, baby steps, start one new good habit. Maybe it's being active 15 mins everyday, or 30, or whatever depending on where you are. Another good first move is to drink at least 64 oz of water each and every day. Once your new habit becomes natural and you are ready, take it up a click and add another new healthy habit.

the FIRM is a workout video system. They are awesome in that it combines aerobic and strength training. they are not usually for folks just starting a workout routine, but you'll work up to them i'm sure of it! Check your local library for workout DVD/tapes to try and find something you like. WATP (Walk Away the Pounds) by Leslie Sansone are very popular and more suited for newbies ;) I have a couple like them. Denise Austin is another good fitness guru -- I like her Shrink the Female Fat Zones. Be aware that some of these require equipment -- hand weights, stability balls, etc. Check out this website for more on workout tapes, then check your library for specific titles if you can access it online and reserve items. here

IMHO -- stay away from the magic weight loss pills. anything that looks too good to be true usually is - and though a quick fix weight loss pill is tempting, in the long run you are just messing up your metabolism and most likely to gain it back

you have found the best place in the world for weight loss support! joining the gym is another outstanding positive action to take! Just remember you CAN do this!!!

IMHO, this is the best advice I've heard. It really is much easier to get to goal when you change one thing at a time. I think it takes just as long to take off weight properly as it does to put it on, especially if you want to keep it off for good. Start slow and keep steady.

As for WISH, I've never found such good support from any other group. These folks care and want to see you be successful.

Good luck to you.

Just wanted to welcome you to WISH:wave2:

I agree with Ohmom on all questions you asked. The Firm 3 set DVD balance pole and fanny lifter set is sold at Walmart(at least around my neck of the woods) I own it and do it and enjoy it! Great workouts. I also from years of failed attempts to lose weight found numerous peices of exercise equipment in my basement and now have a mock mini gym which I love to go down and use - My all time favorite exercise has to be walking! easy anyone can do it and free!;) You'd be amazed how you can add steps to your day if you think about it.

Anyways WELCOME TO WISH!

Sue

Welcome!

I'm fairly new here myself.

I agree start small change habits, make it for lifestyle changes and it will be best and easiest to keep it off. :)

I chose Dr. Phil's Ultimate Weight solution because I feel it will be the most life changing for me though I do good with Weight Watchers too when I can afford to either journal online or go to meetings. Meetings helped me the most though.

Your kids are cuties by the way. :)

I'm a new mom and have 20 more lbs I gained during pregnancy plus another 100 or so over the years lbs to loose.;)

First, I think ALL the kids in these siggies are just adorable!!!!

This is something I do not agree with. Maybe the 1 mile tape, maybe even the 2 mile tape, but I've done the 3 and 4 mile tapes also. How can this be considered 'newbie'? I've been doing the WATP tapes and several other tapes of hers for 4 months now and, I've seen, felt and KNOW the results. ;)

Welcome to WISH and, Onward and Downward!
