Hi all!!
I've been on the disboards for a while but just now found out what the WISH board really was. So anyways....here's my story...I'm 26, newly married and seriously need to lose some weight. Husband and I both know that we have to get in shape, it's just so hard.
I was bad again today and ate Chick-Fil-A for lunch...hello carbs and fat calories. And the sad part.....I have a peach and pear sitting here on my desk.
I really want to start eating better and need a support group but I just can't get into driving to a WW's meeting every week and doing the pay for support thing. Plus the fact that we're going broke after getting married and buying a house.
So what better way to get support than to be on the DIS, my favorite web community.

Soooo glad you found us! I'm on WW too, on my own, and there are several of us following the plan unofficially by counting pts on our own and using WISH for a support group! yiippppeeeeee - I'm so glad you joined us!!

congratulations on the newly married status! how fun! If you have a chance to post your picture and a little bio on the WISH family album we'd love to get to know you more and then you can meet us too :)

Getting started is the hardest part. You can do it! If you don't want to go to WW meetings, they also offer their program online. That is what I do. I don't have the money or the patcience for meetings either. It is $15 a month and the give the tools to work the program and how to keep track of points. Others on this board have hade success with fitday.com. It is completely free, so you might want to check that out. Good luck and happy losing!!!

Welcome to Wish Kristy....

Have you chosen a PLAN??? That is really the first step. Are you leaning towards WW or Atkins? ( I realize that these aren't the only 2 opitions..I was just using them as examples). Let us know how we can help you. NO MORE LURKING...once you make the decision to do this..we will help you through it!!
 
Welcome to WISH! You really won't find a more supportive and positive group like this anywhere. I find myself visiting WISH just to be around positive people, not just to read and post about health.

Have you signed up for the WISH Challenge? Look towards the top of the list of posts. It really is motivating to get new clippies.

Like Luvinit (and many other WISHers) said, your first step is to find a plan that you think will work best for you (and hopefully it will work best for DH too...it really helps if everyone is on board at the same time). Once you find a plan, set a goal. Many of us have weight goals (if you choose this route, you probably want to set mini-goals too, sometimes the overall goal may seem a bit overwhelming when you're first starting out), some people like size goals, and a few just want to have the goal of being healthy and being able to participate in certain activities with ease, whatever works for you.

Just keep plugged in with WISH and you will be successful!

We haven't decided on any particular plan to go with. Just trying to cut back the fats and eat more veggies.....and exercise!!!!!!
 
Welcome Kristy. My first week as aWISHer and it has been nothing but great. Trust me when you feel like that "BAD" food just go to the computer and log on to WISH.

These people are great. We are all here for you

And.................. mmmmmmm I bet that chiicken sandwich was good!!!

If you think that WW might work for you then you can just go to the first meeting and get the materials and then use us as your free support group. I used to go to the meetings but this time around I am doing WW on my own with the help of my WISH buddies.

Welcome to WISH, congrat's on your recent marriage. WISH is great! Everyone here is so nice and encouraging. It's a great way to loose weight. I agree that the hardest thing is getting started. Jump right in and join in our fun!!

:wave: Hi Kristy! Glad you are here! I am doing a low carb/Atkins type of eating. After DH saw what I was doing my DH is doing this as well. We have both been seeing success and the good thing about it is that we are not hungry with this plan. Whatever you choose, remember it is a life style change and a healthy way you are seeking. You are lucky Derek is in on this with you. It makes things easier when you have a partner at home. Good luck. Everyone here is truly the greatest!
 
Welcome to the WISH board, you will find so much encouragement and motivation over here, it has been wonderful for me. I also did WW meetings for a while and now I'm doing it on my own. I do have the on-line service and I really love that it is an option. Can't wait to get to know you better.

Hi Kristy and welcome to WISH. Your plan sounds a lot like mine. I'm drinking lots of water and paying attention to what I eat and trying to make good choices - ie not going back for those extra helpings when I know I've had enough, eating a serving of chips if i want some, not the whole bag, or eating some jello for dessert instead of ice cream or god knows what. I'm also trying to exercise at least 5 days a week. If you are looking for a PM buddy I'd love to be buddies with someone who isn't on a regular plan like WW or Atkins so we could relate. Whatever you choose you have already made a great choice by joining WISH. Best of luck to you and hope to see you around the boards.

Just want to add my welcome, I see you have posted to the challenge thread. That's great, I use that to make up the member roster. This way I will be sure to add you.

Just remember, no lurking allowed. It helps us all when you participate on WISH. I'm so glad you will be part of my support group now :)
