Hi there! Please let me know if this post isn’t allowed but I am interested in renting points. Is there any tips I should know? I’ve read over the post to read before renting. Also is there a sample of a contract anywhere to see what should be included?

Thanks I’m obviously lost.

Just be aware that rentals are private transaction between you and an owner

Each owner sets their own rules and contracts so if going that route, be sure you have discussed payments, changes, etc so both are on the same page.

Brokers can give you some level of comfort as they hold back some of the payment from the owner.

The big piece is that you can save, but lose control of the reservation and in most cases, they are non refundable and most likely not even able to be changed.
Thank you in advance for not posting what you were looking for or dates as that is not allowed other than in response in the Rent/Transfer thread.

If you are renting points from someone here or attempting to rent out to someone else you will have to be able to send PMs. I believe you have to have 10 posts before you can do that.

On top of what @Sandisw wrote, remember to ask for references from previous renters.

IF you decide to go through a broker have in mind that brokers might not be able to get you the reservation you want. A lot of owners decide to rent by themselves as brokers don't pay that much but still charges the renter a high prices.

Understand that its a private transaction between you and the member.

People do get scammed - rarely, but it happens.

The bigger problem is likely to be in needing changes - even if the person you rent from offers to try and change your reservation if you need to, you should know that DVC rooms tend to book well in advance and it can be VERY difficult to rebook on short notice - or even MONTHS out. Points expire, so it may not be possible for you to just move your trip. Even if your member offers to try and help, assume your reservation is non-refundable and cannot be changed. Get your own trip insurance and be sure you are going to take this trip.

Understand that you are renting a timeshare, and that means some differences. DVC operates at high occupancy, so checkin might not be until late afternoon or even early evening. Check out is prompt - and there are no late checkouts.

Understand that the best value in rooms (like VAKL Value or BWV Standard) usually sell out FAST and usually aren't available for rentals. For near park resorts, you want to be planning a year out - reservations can be made eleven months out.
