I'm new to all this, we usually stay off-site or at the value resorts. I'm thinking we should have done this renting DVC points a long time ago. Has anyone ever had any problems or regrets? Are there any hidden fees or catches I should be aware of? I have a lady that will rent points to me at $9.50 a point and for OKW during the 1st week of Nov that's under $100 a night for a studio!

I have had no problems renting points before. You just need to use caution. There is alot of trust with both parties involved. $9.50 is a good price per point, though. Just see what the terms are to rent. How much do you pay up front and when do you pay the balance. You may want to check and make sure they are actually a DVC member. I'm not sure who you contact, but if they(the renter) have used this board for a long time with many posts, you can see what they have posted in the past and how long they have been a member here. They might have other rental posts. It's your call, but it can be a great thing at an excellent price. You would love OKW over a value or off site resort. I have stayed there and it is nice.

If you haven't already, read all of the "Sticky Threads" at the top of the Rent/Trade Forum.

Most owners consider renting to be a non-refundable transaction and will want full payment at least 60 days before your vacation begins. Be sure you understand what the owner's cancellation / change policy will be. Not all owners have the same policy.

Know that this is a private transaction between you and the owner. Disney will not get involved in any dispute.

Understand that you will not get daily housekeeping services. Ask the owner to explain what services you will get during your stay. (It depends upon the llength of your stay). You can request additional housekeeping services for a fee.

You can add the Dining Plan if your stay will begin after 4/1/2006.

Renting can be an incredible bargain for the right people.

Best wishes -
