November 16 I will be sailing for the first time on RCCL FOS our ports are St Maarten and St Thomas my question is has anyone done a resort for the day for their excursion?? I'm looking at two so far one includes a room for the day for 179 that's for four guest which we will have access to the whole resort with the comfort of our own room. Option 2 is say at another resort which is 65 pp kids 13 or 12 below are free access to the resort and free drinks all day no room. Someone that has done a resort for the day please chime in :)

I have never done a resort for the day excursion.

My thinking on this is that my ship is my resort and if I was going to leave the ship to just spend the day at another resort I may as well stay aboard and enjoy my ship resort.

The ship has so much to offer and when in port there are a limited number of guests left onboard so it is not crowded at all.

I also consider the ship my resort. Depending on the ship, there may be more activities going on aboard ship than at a resort. If you want to go to a beach for a day, many of the day long beach excursions offered thru the ship include a lunch of some sort. Most of the time my family would do a morning excursion on an island and then spend the afternoon on board a relatively empty ship.

Kinda hard to beat free drinks :thumbsup2

Funny, DW and I are taking the same cruise, same ship, next year. We've been cruising DCL for years and are finally taking an "adults only" cruise. Can't wait.

Let me know what you decide, with specifics. I like your idea in theory. Outside the box.

Thanks guys...... I feel the same way about the ship being a resort but we only have 3 port days and 4 sea days that should be more then enough time to enjoy the ship plus I like to jet sea and would love to do it while on a resort

I have done resort day passes many times. I like the comforts of a nice resort by the beach! IMO I would go with the free drinks if your drinkers, another nice thing we do is you can often book spa treatments and keep your locker and have spa access/ shower too if the resort is a spa.

. . . my question is has anyone done a resort for the day for their excursion??
We have been on cruises where friends have invited us to visit them for the day at the beach resorts where they were staying.

It was nice having a room or villa to leave our things, for the clean private bathroom (for changing or showering), and for the living room area (sofa and comfy chairs to relax while others were getting ready).

We had use of the resorts' amenities, such as chairs, loungers, umbrellas, pool, restaurants, and bar service. The best part was having all of this right at the beach.

On our last cruise (DCL), we did 2 resort-for-a-day excursions. Not in the places that you are going- ours were in Cozumel and G. Cayman. We loved it and had a great time at both. In Cozumel, there was a large pool and beach and free drinks/food all day. In G.Cayman, it came with a room but drinks/food were not included.

Honestly they were both awesome in their own ways but if I had to choose between he 2 options, I would go for the free drinks. While it was nice to have a room to put our stuff in, I wouldn't miss it. We never used it while being there. We chose the resorts we did based on the amenities, such as the best pool and drinks.

While I love exploring the ship as a resort, its nice to be able to see the local environment and especially the beaches, while still having a relaxing pool and drinks readily available. Last cruise, was the first time we did a resort daypass and i would definitely do again if not interested in any other excursions offered.
