New to pro photography

I have the XTI and its my first slr. It's good for what I want to do....shoot family shots and take it on vacation to capture better images. I personally got the 18-55IS with my camera as the starter lens it usually doesn't come with the IS part. I then step up to the 55-250IS for more zoom. They call it the nifty two fifty. So far so good. I've only been playing around for three months now. I've been reading about a book about exposure and learning the basics. Baby steps, baby steps. Xti is a few generations back but I think it is as good as the XSI. There are very few differences and if you can get a good deal then I say go for it. What are you thinking is a good deal? I got mine for $399 with that IS lens.

tchan, I added the link to The Learning Curve thread to my previous post.

I couldn't find it before but someone bumped it up. Hope you find it useful.

How are you coming along with your research, btw? :)
