We are new to the DVC, this will be our first trip. We purchased at SS. I know this may be a silly question but I read that you don't get housekeeping services but what if you need more towels.. Etc?

It is commonplace in the timeshare industry to limit housekeeping services. Owner dues pay the costs of those services. Thus rather than charge everyone for Cadillac services they may not want, services are minimized and those who wish additional supplies or room servicing can pay on their own.

Some of the ad hoc fees are as follows:

Laundry soap (single load box) = $1
Towel pack = $6
Toiletries (bar soap, shampoo, etc) = $5
Coffee service = $3

Trash & Towel Service:

Studio/Inn = $15 per service
One Bedroom = $20 per service
Two Bedroom = $25 per service
Treehouse Villa = $25 per service
Grand Villa = $35 per service

Full cleaning:

Studio/Inn = $30 per service
One Bedroom = $45 per service
Two Bedroom = $60 per service
Treehouse Villa = $60 per service
Grand Villa = $75 per service

And of course if you book anything other than a studio, you have a washer/dryer in the villa and we wash towels if we need them.

As to soap, detergent, paper towels, etc we bring our own.

Don't forget that depending on the length of your stay, you do get "replenishment." As far as toiletries, I have asked housekeeping members for an extra soap or shampoo, with no problem.

Even if you are in a studio, there is usually a laundry room somewhere nearby in the resort that is free for people staying with DVC.

^^^^ Since you are a DVC member staying on points, you are entitled to use the free laundry rooms assigned to DVC members. There is also a website, laundryview.com/disneyworld/ that allows you to "see" every washer's and dryer's status. So for SSR it shows:
CONGRESS PARK (0 W / 4 D)
THE GRANDSTAND (2 W / 4 D)
THE PADDOCK (2 W / 4 D)
THE SPRINGS (4 W / 8 D)

If you click on any of the above, it will show you the status at the time you click.

You do get Housekeeping services, but not everyday. Depending on length of stay, you get trash and towel service, and the next one will be a full cleaning. I always get confused about this, but I think on the 4th day of your stay, is trash and towel, 7th day is full cleaning. I know this may seem a little odd, but honestly, we prefer not having to worry about housekeeping everyday.

Welcome Home!!

We typically throw our towels in the washer if we need to, but for the most part we've found the number of towels to really be appropriate for the number of people in the room, whether a studio or a two-bedroom. We're a family of five, sometimes with two grandparents too, and we've always had enough.

Just to throw this out there, and please don't yell at me, folks, but there are also towels available at the pools if you really, really need an extra towel. We have, on occasion, wrapped up in a towel at the pool when it was chilly and gone back to the room with it. We've left it in the room upon check-out, and it never seemed to be a problem.

They are probably not supposed to, but we have at times asked for an extra shampoo or something from the person in the hall, and they usually give it to us. Generally we bring a few washer detergents and run a towel wash and clothes wash somewhere in there - but that's in a 1BR where we have a washer / drier. I have once or twice paid for a towel pack when I was feeling lazy - it's only $6.

We are staying in a 2 bedroom at OKW. How much laundry soap will be provided at first? And coffee? Thanks!

Nope, Jimmy. If you stay eight nights, you get a full cleaning on day four (day one is check in day) and trash removed and towels replaced on day eight. If you stay seven nights or less, you get trash removed and towels replaced on day four.

You might get two single use boxes of "green" detergent (not a familiar brand when you arrive and any that are used will be replaced on day four. Coffee, you'll get two filtered packets of coffee. One regular, one decaf. Each will make 4-6 cups of coffee. They will be replaced on each service day. You don't need to bring your own paper towels or toilet paper since those will be replaced for free when you need more. You'll also get a small bottle of dish detergent and a couple single use packets of dishwasher detergent.

If you bring your own coffee, bring flat bottom, basket type filters (like Mr Coffee 10-12 cup type) and any coffee you like. Plus your sweetener, creamer, salt, pepper.

Thank you so much! That is exactly what I needed to know!

The dish detergent is a small bottle of green palmolive and should be plenty to get you through a week+. I do not remember the exact volume it held, but it is always enough for us. You will also be left detergent the dishwasher, enough for a few loads.

The Laundry detergent you get is a single box (think sample size). If I remember correctly it is only enough for 1-2 loads.

Whenever we stay on our points, we always either bring Laundry pods with us in small container (I would be worried about them being smashed in a ziplock) or buy detergent when we get there (we normally have a rental car and stop at a grocery store before check in). We don't use the dishwasher much but if you are planning too, you could bring some dishwasher pods too.

Mousekeeping will replenish the detergents on trash & Towel day and the full cleaning day (if you are there long enough to get either of those).
