My husband and I just started the process for buying DVc this past weekend in WDW. Does anyone know how long it takes from start to finish for the process before we can start booking out first trip?

If you are buying from Disney, the day after you give them the deposit, you should be in the system. Your Guide should have discussed this with you.

If you are buying resale and saving a lot of money, the process takes longer, but you waited all this time to buy so what's a few more weeks. :goodvibes

We bought directly from Disney and put down the $500 payment while we were there does that mean we are in the system?

when we purchased in 2005, our salesperson helped us plan our next trip right then. We had paid our "down payment" and made a reservation at one of the resorts I had always wanted to stay at, WLV.
Welcome Home you are gonna love DVC, as a you use it.

Call your Guide and get him/her to do their job. They should have "guided" through the process.

They may be in some sort of system, but does this mean that they can book a reservation even before they "close" with Disney? Didn't know that...cool...

Yes....!! There guide can walk them thru it.

They can book a reservation as soon as their information is in the DVC system. You don't have to close.

It Disney's way of rewarding you for paying more and buying from them. :goodvibes

;) And to make it harder to change your mind once you got something booked. Pretty sneaky. I like it...

Everyone else has answered your questions, so I'd just like to say: Welcome Home and Congratulations from Mickey, :mickeyjum Goofy, :goofy: and Me!

BTW: Which resort did you buy your points at?

Yeah, they told us the same thing -that we could log on and even make a reservation. I did log on to the members site, but I really could not make a booking or anything. To me it did not seem right until I paid in full.

BTW, 'Welcome Home'.

Wow! Disney told you it is their policy that you can make a reservation and you thought it wasn't right and decided the company wasn't correct? :3dglasses
I purchased resale and called twice a day for two days after I closed and couldn't wait to make my reservation! By the end of the second day after I closed I was ready to go!
Enjoy!

Great thanks for the responses everyone! I will contact my guide. I am so excited!!!

CONGRATULATIONS!
I couldn't wait to make my first reservation!
I wasn't in any hurry to make the reservation before I purchased but once we closed, I called for almost two days until my points were ready to be used and then used them I did. I never knew how the term felt burning a hole in your pocket but once I had those points, I needed to use them. I booked a GV at SSR (my home resort) for the 5 of us (my family and my mother-karensi). I still have points that I NEED to use so trying to convince my dh that we need to be there the week after Christmas next year

:cheer2:WELCOME HOME:cheer2:
