Hello!! This is an awesome site. I have been reading up for weeks!! I am a bit overwhelmed and ready would appreciate some good advice. I am ready to book our trip during the Christmas special. I have several questions. I checked online at the Explorer hotel and also the Sequoia Lodge. The Sequoia Lodge seems to offer so much more and it has a meal deal option. The Explore has less to offer but gives a better rate. Is the meal deal worth it? Can anyone give me some thoughts on these two hotels? I have a 4 year old daughter totally into princess! We would be staying 2 nights. Thank you sooo much!:goodvibes

Welcome to the disboards!!

I've only stayed in the SL once back in 2000. It's a very nice hotel

There are review of the hotels here:

Sequia Lodge

Explorers

I'm not sure that the dinner option would be the best just for you and the little one however I'd suggest staying onsite with a little one incase of naps needed during the day etc

Any other questions just ask!

I see your going at christmas, and in my eyes nothing can match the SL in Christmas dressings :)
I'm also completely in love with the SL, and have been there more than any other hotel, but have never stayed at the Explorers so can't offer a comparison i'm afraid.
The Half-Board meal option from SL is quite nice as well.

Welcome...

I agree that you may want to be on site with a little one - not sure how long you are planning on going for so this may come into it.

We've booked the Marriott Vacation Club nearby (10 mins drive) for our upcoming trip - it's townhouses (but they call them villas) they look beautiful and it can be handy having all the facilities for a child.... But, we are now toying with booking on site instead as you also can't beat walking location with children anyway!

It's a bit of a pros and cons thing really.

Hope you get it sorted.

PS - It's our first trip but everyone here says you can't beat SL at Christmas. We are thinking of going back in December and we would definately look at SL then.

I'd go for onsite over cost saving any day, and that's even without kids (but we make up for it - big kids ourselves)

The SL is lovely, particularly at CHristmas.

Hi, we went in Jan 2005 with a 4 year old and we're going in Jan 2009 with our second 4 year old. We chose onsite hotels because of the convenience of popping back to change clothes, naps, etc. Also, I found the shuttle buses awful and only wanted a short distance to walk after a long day. We are taking a pushchair for our 4 year old, even though she hasn't been in one since she was 3!

Thanks so much!!! I think we will go with SL. I completely didn't think of the advantages of a onsite hotel. And you all are soo right with a little one it would be the far better choice. Thank you for your helpful thoughts!! We really appreciate it!! I am sure I will have more questions for you soon!! :)

Sorry, I didn't respond to you sooner!! I didn't go down far enough!! We are planning on going in Nov. However, my husband is worried it is going to be really cold for us. This will be our first winter here and not really use to real cold weather. I think we will be fine, just need to wrap up a bit. ;0)))

last year we were there until november 8th or around then - they had just put the christmas tree up when we left. anyway, we had some lovely warm days. we did in january too.
remember you can stay indoors lots if you want to.
you can go through the disney store most of the way through the village.
you can go through an arcade instead of walking down main street.
pirates is the warmest ride as far as i know.
