Any tips would be greatly appreciated!! we won't be using until next year July/August and cruising and the same time!!

what type of tips are you looking for - the parks, dvc resorts, other stuff?

which DVC resort will you be visiting?

We bought the Villas at Grand Floridian. Tips about DVC in general...resorts, booking, dining, etc. we are familiar with Parks...unless there are other perks we may not know about.

You should be booking your 11 months out rooms in about a few weeks ;) Don't plan late and be disappointed....

Congrats:cool1:

Just saw pics posted today on another board. They are beautiful:thumbsup2
I want the fridge and tub to name a few, lol.

Agree take advantage of your 11month booking window, many who did not add points are talking about wanting to stay. Though they are doubtful they can book at the 7 month window.

My hint.... If you call MS as with anyone your dealing with. Within the first 30 seconds of the conversation you can usually tell how helpful they are. In some cases how knowledgable they are. If your not feeling the welcome home magic. Make a excuse, hang up and call back! The majority are great but as with anything every now and then you get someone who..... Lets just say isn't feeling the magic:scared1:

Wishing you many years of happiness and pixiedust:

Congrats and welcome home!

Our tip is pick your vacation dates that you want and make your ressie the first morning, of the first day of your 11 month window at your home resort, then if you decide you want to try another villa check availability on the first morning of your 7 month window....

Good luck! And again. WELCOME HOME!

Learn the Rule of Four!!! :teacher: ::yes::

It is in the points book as well as in many threads on the DIS. It will be helpful and you will be able to help others. If after reading about it you have questions, please post them so we can help.

Welcome and have fun! Disney trips are about to change for the better.

Long-term tip. If (let's realistically say "when") either friends or relatives come to Disney with you, try these suggestions:
  • At the very beginning of planning, decide who's paying for meals, park tickets, plane fares etc. Our family provides DVC accomodations for free but expects guests to pick up all their other costs themselves.
  • Plan maybe one meal a day for the whole group, but let individuals or families go separate ways when they want to. Don't herd everyone together all the time.
  • Don't make any reservations until you're certain you have a firm committment from the other party. Make sure they understand that your gift of accommodations is not something you get for free, and if they cancel they'll cause you significant problems.
Do all these things and everyone can have a wonderful trip together!
