New to Disney Cruise Line

For the pirate night, is the pirate show on the top deck the only show that night? Or do they also have one of their Broadway shows that night too? I made a 6pm Palo reservation that night and don't want to miss any of the night festivities
Pirate night the show in the Walt Disney Theater is typically a movie. Since everyone involved in the Broadway-style shows is up on deck doing the Pirate night entertainment.

Do you know when the fireworks are? Some things I've read say they are around 10pm and then others are saying they changed the time to be earlier for the kids. I think fireworks at sea is pretty unique and don't want to miss it. Is a 6pm reservation going to allow me to see them if they moved up the time? Or is it something you can view from the restaurant?

As far as I know, the fireworks are still somewhere close to 10 pm. They can't move them up much before that as late seating for dinner STARTS at 8:30 pm. In order for late seating to finish eating and get up to the pool deck for the fireworks, they could not have them much earlier than 10 pm. If you have a 6 pm Palo reservation you should be good to go.

They could sandwich the fireworks between the two dinner seatings. I don't know if they have done that before, but they could, if they wanted to.

We cruised on the Wonder in April of this year and the Pirate Night fireworks were between the two dinner seatings.

The fireworks were in the daylight? That would be disappointing:sad1:

Or, was the show between the 2 dinner seatings and the fireworks still in the evening?

So if they are in between seatings that would be around 8pm. If I have dinner at Palo at 6pm would that be enough time to get to see them? How long does dinner there usually take? And are the fireworks not viewable from the restaurant if we can't leave in time?

Hi Everyone! I am taking my first Disney cruise this coming Christmas and I have a couple questions. I booked a snorkeling excursion in Tortola, will the water be too cold for snorkeling that late in the year? I'm from Florida and I'm afraid I won't be able to get in the water.

This is also my boyfriend and mine first cruise together, we are going without kids. How does the dining work? Will Disney put us at a table with other couples or could we end up with a table of children?

I'm a bit of a Disney fanatic and love all things Disney, but also want this to be a romantic vacation, is that possible?

First time posting in a forum :) Thank you all in advance!

Our first Diz cruise was before we had kids, and have had three with kids. It is almost like two separate cruise experiences all together. When we had no kids we did spa treatments, laid near the adults only pool, hung in the quiet area of Castaway, ate at Palo, did the comedy shows and lounges at night, etc. Now we do the kid's club, water slides, putt-putt, arcade, get ice cream and Mickey bars, etc. Both are great ways to cruise. ENJOY!

They are not between seatings. A 6PM reservation be fine. They will have them closer to 10:00 PM

Is there a way to find out our dining rotation before the cruise? I've heard that Animator’s Palate is a must and that Carioca’s isn't that great so I'd rather the Palo dinner fall on one of the Carioca's nights. If I call the cruiseline closer to the sail date would they know?

I do see that on the 4-night bahamian double dip in April, the Wonder only had one deck party between dining rotations and the fireworks would have been immediately following that show. I am not sure what the rationale on that was....but on 7 night cruises, particularly on the Fantasy, I can see that just a couple of weeks ago they had two pirate night shows...one after each dining rotation and the Fireworks were at 10 pm or so.

Unfortunately, you don't find that information out until the day you board the ship. You can call and make a specific dining rotation request, but it is just that, a request. They do not promise you will get what you requested. With that said, I made a dining rotation request for Animator's Palette on my last cruise and we got it no problem.

All restaurants do the Pirate menu on Pirate night, so as long as you do Palo on that night, is should not affect you as far as menu. For ambiance, that is another story. If you call DCL, they should be able to tell you all three rotation schedules and you can request the one that has Carioca's on Pirate night.

You don't even need to know the rotations to do that. Just request "want to be in Carioca's (or wherever) on XX night". DCL will figure out what rotation that is and put you on it, if they can.

Disney Wonder cruise out of Galveston in December 2015 also had fireworks earlier; but on the Dream recently, it was after 10pm. Maybe it has to do partly with Time Zone and Daylight Saving related concerns.

The trend I am seeing is more with the Wonder than anything else. No other ship has been mentioned as having the fireworks early.

The 3 night Magic in February had the show on deck followed by fireworks between the 2 seatings, so around 8PM. Only fireworks that night

RE: Pirate Party and Fireworks

I Thought that the Pirate Party Started around 10pm with the Cruise Staff, characters and finally the Pirates "taking over" then around 10:30 the fireworks go, and then the Pirate Party continues for another 15 minutes or so ....

On the Magic class ships the Pirate night activities are a Mickey & Friends Pirate show (with the pirates taking over and Mickey swooping in to save the day) after the second dinner followed by fireworks.

On the Dream class ships the Pirate night activities are a Mickey & Friends pirate show between the two dinner seatings, and a more Jack Sparrow-type pirate show after the second dinner followed by the fireworks and an after party.

On some cruises in the past (on the Magic & Wonder) they did do the show/fireworks between the dinner seatings when the time of year allowed it to be dark enough at that time for fireworks, but it's not the norm.

IMG_1120.JPG We just got off the Fantasy on Saturday. Our pirate night, we watched the Mickeys Pirates of the Carribean show on the pool deck at 7:45 pm then headed to dinner in our pirate gear for our 8:15 seating. Immediately following dinner, we went back up to the pool deck upper level for the Jack Sparrow show Buccaneers Blast which started at 10:15. For the fireworks, if you're facing the screen on the pool deck, the fireworks are off the right side of the boat. You'll want to be on the left side facing the screen for the best view. We were on Deck 12 for fireworks, on the left side of the ship if facing forward towards the bow of the ship.
