Hello!

We've just booked our first cruise evah! Multigenerational trip on the Magic, 7 day Med out of Barcelona next fall. I'm all ears (more so eyes in this case) for learning about the world of Disney cruising. Our group will be a total of nine - both set of grandparents and our immediate family which is myself, husband and three girls (8,6,6). I'm starting to think about hotels pre-cruise. Anyone with info on hotel rooms for 5? We will be flying in separately from the grandparents (they live in Canada, we are in the US), so splitting the girls into three triple rooms isn't an option.

Thanks in advance for all the great information I know you'll be sharing!

A room for 5 is going to be pretty hard to find. Most of the rooms seem to be 3 max. You might want to look at apartments for rent if you have to all be in the exact same space.

If you don't mind separate rooms, I really liked the Acta Atrium Palace this summer. I don't think that they have anything for 5 in one room though.

Ugh. I've been having an impossible time trying to find a room for 4! As you mentioned, we'll be splitting my eldest off to be with my parents, making our group of 6 into two rooms of three (which have still be frustratingly difficult to find). It seems that this is usual overseas: I have found the same issue with our upcoming trip to Japan. I finally had to admit that the four of us simply need to reserve two rooms (the very thought is foreign to me). Which, in your case, would seem to mean two rooms, two parents, one child in one room and the other two in the second... and you still have the issue of finding a triple. :crazy2:

What part of town are you interested in? Are you history buffs? Beach-goers? Shoppers? My family is all history/culture geeks, so we're looking at hotels in the Gothic Quarter, for instance.

I have this thread bookmarked:

That being said, I have a reservation for Hotel Continental Barcelona on Las Ramblas for next March. It's pretty cheap, has a 24-hour free buffet, and is cancellable up until 2 days before. So I figured why not hold it for now? With 5 of you, you may need 2 rooms. We went to Europe last summer and it was a bit harder to find rooms that would hold 3 of us. Good luck!

We are a family of 5 and have been to Barcelona many times. There are quite a few apartment style hotels (similar to the Marriott Residence Inns) in Barcelona. We have stayed at the following:

Casp 74 - they offer 1, 2 and 3 bedroom units with full kitchens and washer/dryers. Great location. A quick walk to Placa Catalunya.
Apartments 64 - They offer 1, 2 and 3 bedroom units with full kitchens and washer/dryers. Right on Passieg de Gracia (one of the best shopping streets in BCN) and quick walk to Placa Catalunya.
Hispanos 7 Suiza - They offer 1 and 2 bedroom units. They are little out of the way of the main areas but the only one with a full service restaurant.

There are also a few hotels in Barcelona with connecting double and triples. You will need to email or call to inquire and usually to book them as well.

Also know that finding larger capacity taxis can be very difficult. So be prepared to split your party up if you are cabbing it anywhere or try to prebook.

Y'all rock! Five is a PITA is the US, let alone Europe. God totally laughed when he gave this girl, who loves to travel identical twins. I've been in contact with Emmanual at Hispanos already this morning. I'm going to look into the other suggestions now. I've been to Barcelona twice as a backpacker but alas, many moons have passed. Definitely need to show my Littles the works of Gaudi, the Gothic district, Las Ramblas and more if we have time.

Love to hear all you guys can share!
