:goodvibes Hi there,

I'm new here and have not been to Walt Disney World since i was 13 yrs old ( ok, so that's a pretty loooooong time ago, LOL!!) I was hoping someone here could help me out with this question- there seems to be such a wealth of info here!!
I am planning a trip with DH, DS (8), DS (5) and DD (3) for early december'07. My inlaws are celebrating their 50th anniversary this year and this is to be a whole family trip with DH's parents and siblings and their families.

My question is regarding CAA discounts for staying onsite. My understanding is that a discount only applies when booking room only. But.... when i called the disney reserv'ns number the guy i spoke with gave me the impression that if I booked with CAA travel agents that there would be a discount for booking a package???
Does anyone know if this is true????

(I don't actually have a CAA membership but am definitely thinking it would be a worthwhile investment (at least the a la carte membership) in order to get discount for dis. resorts....)

any help with this would be appreciated, thanx in advance!!!
:)

If you book with CAA, you can book a package and the room portion is discounted. There are also perks to booking with CAA/AAA as well. Definitely worth looking into! I would call around your local CAA's and see if there is a Disney World Specialist.

Thanks, I will definitely look into using CAA travel agents for this!

thanx for the welcome tmli !

I have found so much info on the DIS boards in the past couple of days, pretty cool :cool1:

if you get a number for CAA that has a Disney specialist can you post it.

i've gone to my local one and even called and they can't do any better then calling direct.

thanks.'

The confusion lies in that Disney CRO can give a room only AAA discount but can not give a AAA package discount. Your AAA travel office can give both a AAA room only or pkg discount.

Hi lo!!

Does anyone know exactly how much of a room only discount CAA gives? My GF had called and got VERY vague information, that was pretty useless, actually, and said there was a $100 charge for organizing our "grand gathering". So how can we decide to use her is we don't know the discount? (We are already getting a discount directly through Disney on room only, and would like to compare).

Overall, was not impressed by the CAA lady.

Thanks!

According to the AAA book I received when booking through CAA, it is a percentage of the room portion of the package:

Value and Moderate Resorts: 20% off in value season, 15% otherwise
Deluxe Resorts: 15% off in value season, 10% otherwise
Swan and Dolphine 35% year round

Can you get a discount from AAA and then apply an AP discount as well?

Thanks

Charleyann

You can only use AP or CAA discount. They won't allow you to choose both.If you work out the numbers you can see which is a better deal for you.We have done it both ways.

Thank you for your quick reply! I have two reservations booked for Disney . First one is from Dec 18th - Jan 1st using the 40% off code I received via email. The second reservation is regular rate from Jan 1St - Jan 4th/ 08. Can I see now if AAA can be applied to the January reservation or do you have to wait for the room discounts at certain times?

Thanks again

I would call and ask Disney when the CAA rates for January will be out. I can't remember when they come out but it is at one time for the whole year. Also book early we tried to get CAA rates for jan 1-6 this year and for march at CSR and they were all sold out! Good luck planning and have a great trip. We are leaving now for a week at Disney/Universal.

If you do go the AP route be sure to get a DDE card-Disney Dining Experience which gives you 20% off at most Disney sit down meals. You would easily make back the cost with such a large crowd. It is available to AP holders from Disney for 60.00. Ours has already paid for itself!
