new to board question about BCV

What a great board, so happy to have found it. Questions....we joined DVC last year after a great trip to the Beach Club Hotel. We are returning in October. What should I be requesting? I have seen comments on the board about the Epcot view not being so good (that is what request I have in).
Also, do I need to request a dedicated 2 bedroom to get 2 queens? HELP< it is all so confusing.
Oh, one more thing we are going the 3rd week in October which happens to be the food and wine fest, we didn't realize that when making our plans. Anyway, is it just packed there at that time?

I can answer a few of your questions.

Not all dedicated two bedrooms have two queens, I think most do, but there were some that they were unable to get them in there after construction. All lock offs have the sofa bed. To increase you chances, yes, request a lock off with two queens.

Packed for DVC and packed for the parks are not usually the same. The busiest WDW times are usually pretty easy to get DVC rooms. The lightest WDW times are usually the busiest DVC times.

The third week in October is going to be great. The crowds will be light, the F&W festival will be happening and the weather will be great. Late Oct- early Nov and the first two week of Dec are the only times we go, because of the light crowds, nice weather and low point requirements.

We did that our first year. We made plans for late October back in '93. It turns out that this was also the first year for the F&W, it was great. That trip made me make sure to schedule any fall trip to coincide with the F&W.

I just returned from a stay at BCV so I'll try to answer your questions.

We had an Epcot view room on the 5th floor. The view of Epcot was breathtaking as well as Illuminations. There is a trade off for this view however. You also face the service road that goes to the BW. There also is a service entrance to the BC located off this road, so there is a lot of noise associated with this view, especially at night. We were able to drown out most of the night noise by running the ceiling fan, but it was a little too breezy(fan had to be on high to be effective). It did make for sitting on the balcony some what annoing listing to cars, trucks, and buses zoom buy all the time.

Also, do I need to request a dedicated 2 bedroom to get 2 queens?

I'm under the understanding that getting a dedicated 2 bedroom w/ the two queens beds (as opposed to a queen bed and a queen sofa bed) isn't a request, it's a specific room category that must be reserved. If you didn't request(ie book this and it's noted on your confirmation) this at your time of reservation, it might be hard to get now as there are only 25 rooms I believe like this. Note: All dedicated 2 bedrooms at BCV have 2 queens, but most of them have a queen bed and a queen size sofa bed, only the 25 mentioned above, which need to be specifically reserved, have 2 queen size beds.

The Epcot area resorts will most likely be filled due to the Food and Wine Festival, due to their close proximity to Epcot. I wouldn't expect the other parks to be as crowded as Epcot.

We've stayed on the top floor,#473, right over the canal and facing the road. The road noise was not audible to us. We don't leave the sliding door open nor do we hang out on the balcony other than to watch Illuminations if we head home early. On our latest trip we were on the 5th floor facing Epcot and again we did not hear road noise at all. That said, for our next trip we requested top floor pool view just to try that view. Our Jan 2004 request is for top floor Epcot. We really enjoy the Epcot view of Spaceship Earth.
