New to AP and have questions!

Thank you for this list! I have so much to consider before purchasing an AP. Is there a way I can find out room discounts? Or is that information private?

You can't see them until you have an AP.
They are, on avg (stress here, ON AVG) 10% more than the current General Public room only discount. There are always exceptions but it's a good general ball park figure to work with. To at least give you an idea. I also find that availability usually mirrors the GP discount. Again, not 100% of the time but most often. It's rare to find a room with the AP discount and not the GP discount, and vice versa. But it has happened every once in a while.

If you have a trip you want to get an exact price on you can call the reservation line and they will give you a rate for the AP discount without your having an AP yet, and you can book it prior to purchase.

Which gives me the opportunity to say that this is one of THE most odd, unexplainable rules that
Disney has.
Why on earth do they not simply offer to send a MB to guests who have already bought an AP?

If nothing else, it would eliminate the dozens and dozens and dozens of times we on the DISboards
have to explain this stupid "rule" to first-time AP guests.

That said...
It is possible (POSSIBLE) that a guest who has just bought new AP can actually PICK UP an
AP MagicBand while visiting WDW for the first time using that new AP.
It is said (and with a few confirmations... very few) that guests who go to the new Frontierland Guest Relations
in MK, can be issued (on the spot) a new AP MagicBand.
It won't be "customized" (another really unimportant and overly promoted piffle) with the guest's
(hidden) name, but it will work just fine for the guest's needs for the entire AP year (and beyond,) nonetheless.

I have often wondered why they can't give out a MB when you activate/pick up your AP. So what if it doesn't have your name on the back. At least the guest has one. Or at least offer the guest to have one and then check off the box on their account that indicates Guest has MB. Those that say nah, I'll order mine later, leave it unchecked. Let them order. Seems so easy to me. And logical. Which is why I guess they haven't done it.
