Well After being ill and in hospital last week (kidney stones and blood infection), i needed to cheer myself up and we have been umming and ahhing for a while, so finally decided to book for october!!:goodvibes

We ended up with virgin flights into miami, because Orlando prices were silly for oct as weve booked later than usual....anyway not done Miami before, may do a few nights at the hotel on way back....thinking of vero beach on the way down (dvc ), but need hotel/ area suggestions for the way home, Anyone stayed anywhere nice?????

:)

Sorry can't help with Miami, never been. Just wanted to wish you a speedy recovery, great way to cheer yourself up.:thumbsup2

Isnt it just feel much better already....lol:goodvibes

Was going to Canada/ America in a few weeks and had to postpone that so needed something nice to look forward to/ plan!!

When we drove down from Orlando on our road trip to the keys we stayed in a Quality Suites as we were only there for the night, but there were some fabulous places in the Art Deco disctrict and the beach there was to die for!

I LOVE Miami!!! You will have so much fun if you do decide to go there for a few days :)

Hope you are feeling better soon too, kidney stones are no fun :grouphug:

we've driven to and from Miami in one day - didn't need an overnight stop. The time we flew into Miami we crashed at the Marriott at the airport then got up and drove to Orlando the following day.

we have flown into Miami a couple of times, we stayed at the Holiday inn on Collins drive and are hoping to do so again this October. When do you fly ?

We stayed at the Riu Florida Beach hotel in 2008 and we really liked it. It is further north on Miami beach as opposed to South Beach, but this means it is a lot cheaper. The hotel backs straight onto the beach and there is a wooden boardwalk that takes you straight down to the sights of south beach (about 20 min walk). There is a nice pool and an excellent buffet breakfast. As with most Miami hotels parking is limited and expensive, and there wasn't many place to eat next to the hotel. Balcony rooms are more expensive and have an ocean view. We had a standard room which was a good size and was side facing with huge picture window. I loved being able to see the city on one side and the ocean on the other. I think it's a good family hotel in what is quite an adult city. If you do go to Miami I highly recommend the Duck Tour.

Thanks will take a look at the hotel......
I know we could do it in a day but wanted to do the beach and see some of miami since were gonna be there anyway.......
