I just spent some time following a bunch of links from a popular television-oriented message forum, trying to figure out whether the time was right to start considering buying a new television. I came out of the experience figuring that I'll live with my aged analog television for as long as I can. It seems that there was little consideration given to the fact that digital televisions are, fundamentally, to be consumer products. Most folks have no desire to learn a whole new science in order to choose the right television and understand whether it is a good value. And most folks have no desire to spend hours coaxing a brand new television to display a nice picture.
