I just got a new survey from Universal about mobile phone usage in the parks. The last section of the survey is about additions they could make to the Universal app. There are 12 slides and each one has 5 options and you are supposed to pick the most and least appealing option. Slides 3,5 and 7 mention making ride reservations on your phone. Please tell me this is not the first step towards the Disney fast pass reservation system. I like the Express Pass just like it is.

Scary.

I don't use a phone in the parks (I own a dumb phone) so this would do me no good at all.

I also got the survey and put those "Disney-fast pass-type" options at the bottom of their list. If they move to a fast pass type system, I am going to be so disappointed. I like the relaxed pace of Universal-which is why they continue to get my money the past few years.

I marked them as the least appealing option every time it came up also.

jmho and speaking from an onsite guest's perspective vs one who buys an express pass to enchance their park day...

having return times 'scheduled' by purchasers would likely lessen some of the long lines for onsite guests w/FOTL perk.:duck:

I would expect that if they decide to implement, you could set it up at the time of purchase (online or in the park at time).

If they would try to set up that structure with onsite guests, i think many would bolt, being used to walking up to an attraction

if i had to schedule my time for rides at the darkside (as the disney fp does now)
i wouldn't be spending that much time at the darkside.

i'd be cutting back my time and money i spent there.

Ditto on that. That's what sets Universal apart from Disney. I stay onsite as all other regulars do. Taking advantage of included express pass with uncomplicated riding is the best. I would not support a phone ride setup system.

Another thought. There would be no incentive to stay onsite for the extra perks if everyone could schedule ride times. Universal has invested plenty on new onsite resorts. They would be hurting their resort investment I think?

I don't own a cell phone. So, nope! And though I can handle Disney's Fast Pass system, it's nice for US/IOA to not have the same system. It makes planning so much different, which makes US/IOA so much more relaxing.

Another vote for no! I've had the survey in my inbox for a few days. Guess I'll fill it out today...

Yep, I said no and lowest to ride reservations. What I did see was ability to buy items from their store, which is what Disney just launched an app for. What I would like to see is restaurant wait times as well as ride times. It wasn't a long survey. Did it yesterday, when I got it in my email. While I do take my phone in the parks, I only really look at it when someone calls or texts me. I also will take a picture with it too, but that is about it. I do not want to be constantly looking or playing while I am enjoying the parks.

I would think if they do implement some kind of phone reserving thing, that they'd keep the perk different enough to make staying onsite still worth it. Like whereas staying at the deluxe resorts earns you unlimited Express privilege, a guest would only be able to make a small number of ride reservations through their phone.

That's my thoughts as I filled out the survey

If they do away with onsite express on how it works now I will not be visiting at all, period. I make so many trips a year that they will lose more than me.

i would freak out if the darkside became like the motherland with set ride times......!!

why stay onsite anymore?

my future trips would be centered around hard ticket events only then.
