New survey .. proposal .. Tiered Ticket Prices

You know in some ways I get this, at least for DLR. It bothers me as when we can often visit LA it is in Sept/Oct which is their unofficial off peak, the parks close earlier, the fireworks/F! are weekends only and many of the rides are undergoing maintenance yet the price I pay for entrance is the same as if I were to visit in July.
Why should one pay the same for a day that the parks are open 8-12 has both Fireworks and F! and has few rides down as one does for the park being open 9-7 with no fireworks/F! and 7 rides down for maintenance?
I can see a weekend/weekday difference as well, and really don't have an issue paying more for MK because I think it is worth more.
But where it gets tricky is how confusing purchasing tickets could become.

My survey did not care for opinions on tickets. But they were wondering if I made an attempt to make ADRs while already checked in and whether or not I got them. Also some transportation questions and generic experience questions.

And at the end, it wanted to know how I felt about the survey and one option was that it offended me. I did not check that one.

I just completed a survey based on my visit last October. All was happy, even magical perhaps, until i got to the "meat" of their questions. The possibility of 3 different levels of tickets based on not only day of week but time of year as well ... Gold, Silver & Bronze. Some bizarre algorithm used to determine what the entire cost of tickets would be since they are also considering that even if you buy multi-day tickets you would pay more on the days you visit MK even with a park-hopper option added?? Using the formula provided i would have paid close to $1300.00 EACH for the ten days we visited. If i was to buy tickets from the website right now i would pay that for BOTH!

Anyone else get this survey?? Make anymore sense to you as to how they are coming up with this pricing?? OH ... the GOLD pricing for a MK day is over 130.
We just arrived home from WDW yesterday. I received a planning survey, which I just opened. It asked me whether I am the primary planner, whether I'm under or over 18 years old, whether I visited in the past 30 days, and whether I'm planning to return this year (which I am). After I answered these questions, it cut me off and said I did not meet the profile they were looking for! :(

Lol - I received an email to participate in the survey today. I always do their surveys because I'm hopeful that it will one day translate into a PIN. (I know...I know.)

Anyway, as soon as I clicked the option that said I was an AP holder and a Disney Visa card member, it went right to a screen that basically said they were not looking for the opinions of people like me.

I took one about a month ago and it was all about MME and FP+. I had a *lot* of fun with that survey. :p

One of my favorite questions was "Do you think that having an Annual Pass makes you a good parent?" I wanted soooo badly to answer, "Yep. Most of the time I plop my kid in front of an episode of Jerry Springer with a can of Great Value cat food and a Coors Light. But buying that Annual Pass put me on the cover of Mother of the Year Magazine."

But I was too scared they wouldn't send me a PIN.

.

Perhaps they're using it as a tool to even out crowds. Higher prices should move demand.

That actually bothers me more than the higher prices.

Going in a lower crowd time is one of the few tools left to someone trying to minimize time spent waiting in lines.

So the Hotel prices at Disney (and everywhere) are higher during peak seasons. Hotels in the real world fluctuate rates any given day between demand and availability. Weekday destinations like Washington DC have a lower rate on the weekends when they are empty. As PP said they do this in sporting events all the time now. "Day trip" Amusement Parks all over the country have lower rates for shoulder season then they do more middle of the summer season.

Not saying it's right but it isn't like adjusting ticket pricing to demand would be unique to Disney. So I will pay a ton for a Thanksgiving trip and a lot less for the last week in August. Supply vs Demand...

I honestly believe that only people like us on DIS or real die hard Disney people would really even know the difference or even a real price change. They'd still go & pay. We're such a minority in the scheme of WDW, it'd only maybe stop our small group for going during these Gold times, & even then some diehard can only go whe the kids are out of school.

Shouldn't you be packing? *cough, cough* Or planning a birthday party or something? :teeth:
[Thank you for reminding me about looking up a dessert for upcoming birthday!] [[I can't pack until we do the laundry and that's not looking good for today. ;)]]

DH will never go back to WDW if the prices jack up like that. He already questions the ROI these days - those figures would have to include accommodations at Cindy's castle!

We can only go during certain times and I'm reasonably certain that those would all involve gold passes.

I won't bleed before I'm shot as they say but if this comes to pass I won't pay more. Just won't.

Interesting but not too different from resort pricing. Cash prices for Disney resorts are lower on weekdays. We stay at our DVC resorts mostly on weekdays because they are less points then.
